I want to get my monroe pierced to make a statement about piercings in general. I want to prove that not everyone with a facial piercing is a “freak”; I want to show that I can still be a “good girl” and have this. I also want to show another side of my personality and show that there’s a lot more to me than people see simply at a glance. I want to show that I’m different and do something “bad”.
But, I’m nervous about scarring and manipulating my “natural beauty”. I’m also afraid of the pain/swellig involved and whether I’ll really regret this or not.
So who knows….

This was my first piercing, other than a misguided ear piercing when I was 16(!) that got infected and grew over, so I was a little bit nervous going in (needles and blood and pain, oh my!). But it went beautifully and now I’ve finally got a foreign object embedded in my face and a highly disturbed mother, so all is well.
6 MONTHS LATER:
I’ve got another on the other side! Hurrah.

i finally got my monroe done yesterday! it didnt hurt at all. i saw a lot of people that said it hurt but for me i didnt even realize it had gone through yet. i absoutley love it. although it didnt bother me till today the back is uncomfortably hitting my gums but im hoping its just because the bar on the piercing is too big. anyways if u want it, get it!

I had this done a few days ago. It didn’t hurt at all but I knocked it this morning and it bled like a bitch. I had it pierced with a retainer which I wouldn’t recommend, because it looks like a big zit. Other than that, zexxxxy.

I got it done yesterday
and this time it didn’t hurt or swell at all.
Doing it with my friends made for a great story,
but having a professional do it this time worked out a lot better, it’s most definetly the way to go.

So as a Christmas gift, she gave me sea salt, sanitizer, cotton balls, and studs…with a picture of Marylin Monroe, all as hints that she is taking me to get mine redone =.D

I had it done
but it was a bit crooked and I had to take it out. I loved it so much, it was really depressing.

I’m having second thoughts anyway. Maybe I look better without any facial piercings.

Several years ago my husband wanted me to get my monroe pierced but never done it as I had no strong desire to get pierced. My husband is more trendy than me as he wanted his madonna pierced however not many guys had their madonnas pierced.
All this has changed as there are far more guys of all ages having this piercing although the vast majority are on us ladies.
It was our eleventh wedding anniversary last Tuesday and my husband kept asking me what I wanted but I was telling him to wait until Tuesday an then I would tell him.
The eleventh anniversary traditionally is a gift of steel or nowadays jewellery. I knew that my husband wanted a Madonna piercing on himself and hey it suddenly dawned on me: steel, piercing, madonna and monroe. It just had to be!
On the morning of our anniversary, my darling husband makes my breakfast and brings it to bed and asks me what I have decided as I was keeping it a close secret.
I recall the words .. Darling, I want you and me to get our Monroe’s pierced today.
My husband took it as a shock as the breakfast tray fell from his hands.
Later that afternoon we call in on Sarah who’s done his other piercings. Sarah was fantastic. The procedure was so simple considering that I didn’t know what to expect.
Now I have a beautiful diamond in my face and my husband equally has a sexy tiny madonna stud.
Sarah made the comment that we weren’t the first couple to get pierced together and that our Monroe/madonna’s looked really cool and trendy. Also as it was our anniversary, sarah done our piercings for half price as a gift!
It’s been a few days now since our piercings and we haven’t had any problems. We both have had very positive compliments from friends and colleagues. Piercings are for all ages. At 40 years young we feel happy. My husbands wish has come true and the piercings both compliment our faces. I hope to upload a picture or two!
