This a goal I need to get done, as I have postural imbalances and joint pain.
I will consciously try to improve my posture as well as do stretching, mobility and strengthening exercise.

How I did it: I didn't mean to improve my posture, but I took a Tai Qi class at a local community college. Half way through the semester, I had a whole new understanding of how I was holding my body and I gained unexpected skills on how to hold my body and move more efficiently. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Improving my posture occurred gradually over the past 2 years. I realized from watching others and by catching glimpses of my reflection that slouching makes everyone look less attractive. You look fat(er)- and if you have tits (male or female) it makes them appear saggy(er). And that was enough motivation for me. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I'd had bad posture forever but when I went through puberty and magically sprouted my large breasts, it got even worse. However, I was in chorus since I was in third grade and the techniques that help you to breathe properly while singing really improve your posture. Keep your shoulders back, chin parallel to the floor, imagine as though there is a string at the top of your head pulling your body upward. After a decade of practicing this … Read how I did it…

How I did it: Basically I got off my butt and started exercising. I really started seeing progress when I worked with a trainer for 4 months, strengthening my core. Then I took up Kung Fu, which continues to strengthen the core and provides a whole body workout 3 times a week. Kung Fu also requires focus on form, and increased awareness of what every part of your body is doing at each instant. Most recently, we got a Wii Fit, and I started doing y… Read how I did it…

sweet vv is getting there!
i’ve been doing great on this goal. i’ve started with acunpuncture to get rid of the pain and now i’m doing physiotherapy to straight up my back and i’m doing my best to get better as soon as possible.

bought some green tubs from coles supermarket (planet ark) and found they also make excellent horse feed bins..
Found myself now regularly walking over the paddocks with one on top my head, and heard the voice of my long dead ballet teacher ‘helps with posture’. Easiest way to carry as its too awkward otherwise.
practise :)
I think that my posture is influencing my confidence or the other way around. Which comes first? I hate to fake things, but unless I start standing proud, how am I going to feel or look good? Oh, why must I look like a shrunken mouse?
Khimen is working on getting up early!
I’ve always wanted to do this, but sometimes I just get distracted and forget :(... I have scoliosis and so does my mom, so it’s actually a pretty important goal fr me to work on… I try to work on it when I go walking and definatley when I do yoga… it’s not much but it’s a start…
Basically I just decided to do this one day after a long period of not caring, and from then on, every time I noticed myself slacking off on posture I would stand up taller and try and keep the pose. At first it felt extremely awkward and I rarely remembered to correct myself, but before long it began to feel natural.

My sister has a gross hunchback, although she has gigantic boobs and is morbidly obese. I don’t want to have a hunchback even though I’m not sure if it’s possible since I have small boobs and am average weight. Still, I don’t want to take any chances so I try to catch myself any time I slouch and sit up. It is so difficult though and is sometimes painful to sit up straight because I’ve been slouching for so long. I don’t know how long it takes to improve your posture or to be able to always sit up straight, but I’m hoping pilates will help significantly.

I slouch. a lot. The other day, my boyfriend’s grandmother told me if I kept it up, my back would be curved forever. >.< I know I have to stop. I just have to try. I can stand up straight in choir and when I dance, why can’t I do it all the time?
tehmorp noticed that 50% of things make her feel confident.
This is going to take a while. First, by posture I mean not just how straight my back is, but my entire way of positioning and aligning my body.
The first thing I notice about how I feel, physically, in relation to how I position my body is that crossing my legs, which I allege is “comfortable” and thus do incessantly, actually ends up hurting my knees. So step one is to stop crossing my legs when I sit. I’ll know I’ve succeeded at that step when I stop catching myself doing it because it’s become natural not to do so. After that, I’ll evaluate how I feel and choose step 2.)
This (

waiting4magik Gotta get it together.
As I approach a benchmark age, I notice bad posture more among older people. Maybe I can combat gravity and overcome poor habits thanks to tips from other Thingers.
Think!
Just being aware of my stance is making a difference already.
Move!
I always notice an improvement when I exercise regularly.
Stand!
Do not sit at computer for more than 30 min intervals.
Slut!
Wearing low-cut shirts facilitates the need to keep the chest up.
