Every mall visit, this is the first store I hit. Zoom, straight to Hot Topic. It’s usually the last, too, because I just end up staying to hang out with the employees or bump into someone I know. The atmosphere is bangin, the clothes are exackly my style, the music is spot on, the people are wierd like me & all is well in the land.
Not only is this company in the top Fortune 500, but according to some friends & most of the employees i fit the profile perfectly. It wasn’t until last Saturday though that i axually considered it a possibility to work here. I overheard the boss lady stressin about how lazy everybody got this time of year when they need help the most. She looked up and said hey dude if you come in on Monday with an application you got the job. I did go in Monday but she had just left :( So we rescheduled for tonight @ 8 pm.. Wish me luck!
There is such a rewarding future promised with this which is more than i can say for any of the dead-end labor industry jobs I’ve been working my whole life. I work night shift in a string factory as it is right now.. Pretty much all lumber mills before that.
My aspirations for this job: modeling, photography, design, music columnist or a fashion columnist. Anything is possible ;)
How to work at hot topic
How I did it: It's probably one of the most interesting things you'll ever do. I did it by simply printing off an application and filling it out, and then going to go talk to the sales manager.
Lessons & tips: Well first off you need to find a Hot Topic near your area, and apply if they're hiring. The minium age to work here is 16 and you must know A LOT about music. And when i say a lot, I definately mean it. And along with your awesome interest in music, you should have a great personality. I've been working here for about four months and all the people they have hired have outstanding personalities and an awesome wardrobe. I've noticed that they really do hire people based on individuality and personality. I work with so many eccentric and awesome people, and not one of us are the same, it's totally amazing. Honestly, tell me when have you been to a HT with boring sales merchs? Ha, I stronly agree that all of you guys go and apply to work here. It has been the best experience I have ever had and I would recommend anyone that is an individual to apply. And another great thing, Hot Topic doesn't at all discriminate against sex, age, race, religion or anything. Just as long as you dress the part and know what you're talking about when it comes to music, you're sure to be hired. Oh and also another cool thing, is the 40% percent discount on clothes, and HUGE discounts on local concert tickets, and a lot of time you get free tickets to shows and backstage passes ! The Suicide Silence concert that recently played down here, our whole team got to go for free :]
You will absolutely love it here, there's no place else that I would rather work.
they do this at ours, and i'm pretty sure they do it at other ones, but you folks that have yours ears gauged,
free extra gauges each month, ha, i have 14 pairs of free plugs and pinchers i've gotten at the end of the month :]]]
Resources: My resource was my mom. She forced me to work somewhere, and I ended up here and it rocks !
