Was all set to go with our frequent flier miles, but British now wants $550 per person for a free ticket, which doesn’t include their fuel surcharge. WTF? Can’t afford to take 5 people at that price. Maybe in another year or two. Or as part of a much longer experience. It’ll happen someday! 5 years ago

I would give it a 30/70 chance that I’ll visit Matt & Rachael in Scotland in my lifetime. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to—but don’t keep the twins up late waiting for “wacky Uncle Daniel from crazy America” to arrive. I haven’t even been to London in 4 years.
I’m taking this goal off my list. At which point I’ll likely go visit Matt and Rachel in Scotland. For real. 7 years ago

Matt and Rachael are truly awesome friends! Their hospitality and tour-guiding were great. 7 years ago

I bought airline tickets, and reserved a rental car yesterday. The second week of our trip we’re spending in London. We’ve arranged to rent a townhouse nearly Canary Wharf there for the week. 8 years ago

Edinburgh was one of the most amazing cities I’ve been to. The view of the city from the top of the castle is breathtaking. I had a hard time leaving.
Matt was busy trying to hire people and I only somewhat jokingly offered to solve his problems by letting him hire me. Rachael fixed a nice dinner, which was probably the best meal I had while in the UK. She also gave me some good advice for gifts to give my nieces and nephews.
It was a lot of fun getting together with people I know in a completely different setting. I hope to do something like this again. 8 years ago
