Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

MyImaginaryWorldPlanning - the Provinces

So, I started planning out where I would go this week. I’m anal about this kind of thing, although once I’m out there I have tons of breathing room and flexibility. If you have suggestions I would really appreciate hearing them (including if you have a comment about something below; most of which I just put down randomly because it’s what I thought of when I considered the province).

BC
Alaskan Highway from Yukon border to Dawson Creek
all of Vancouver Island
I live here so I don’t know…

Alberta
...what’s in Alberta? I’ve been to Edmonton.
Jasper and Bamff Nat. Parks

Saskatchewan
Cities: Regina, Saskatoon, Eastend, Moose Jaw
Places: Cypress Hills Prov. Park, Big Muddy Badlands, Grasslands Nat. Park, the Dunes, Prince Albert Nat. Park, Moose Valley, Qu’Appelle Valley, Wood Mountain

Manitoba
Cities: Winnipeg, Brandon (I must go here)
Places: Manitoba Museum, The Forks

Ontario
Cities: Stratford, Belleville, Manitoulin Island, Ottawa, Cobourg, Ganaraque
Places: Stoney Creek (their icecream is apparently wonderful), Algonquin Prov. Park, Sandbanks Prov. Park, 1000 Islands

Quebec
Cities: Montreal, Quebec City, Vieux Montreal, Trois Rivieres,
Places:

Newfoundland
Cities: St. John’s
Places:

New Brunswick
Cities: Fredericton, Moncton, St. John
Places:

Nova Scotia
Cities: Halifax
Places:

Prince Edward Island
Cities: Charlottetown
Places:

PS I like pretty places, everything nature as well as great people. I have an appreciation for history and things you “must see” (AKA tourist traps usually). Mostly it’s about all the gorgeous places and meeting awesome people. 3 years ago

Marta NobleBC and Alberta

Johann and I make a spontaneous drive along the Trans-Canada Highway. We drove from Vancouver out to Lake Louise and Banff. Climbed a couple mountains, camped out on the salmon-carcass-strewn shores of Lake Shuswap. Saw longhorn sheep and some snow rabbits, but no moose! This means we need to go again!

And further this time! I wants to see me the Maritimes! 7 years ago
