keep track of my spending

I was doing well for awhile, until I couldn’t find the notebook I’ve been writing everything down in. A few shopping trips may have happened along the way. Whoops. Retry.

Am trying to minimize my expense, since am trying to save money.Keeping track of my spending, by writing it down seems an effective strategy for me. Hope I continue it!!

Ok. I’m going to make a sheet to keep track of this right now and put it in my planner so I have it with me. My goal is to record all of my income/expenses for the next week. I’d rather not be the typical financially retarded college student.

I already track my finances in a little database, but I tend to include when I pay bills and not when I buy lunch or something little. It would be easier to look for ways to save more money to apply to my student loan debt (another goal of mine) if I really kept track of this. And since I’m so close to doing it already – I have a system – I think I can make this goal happen A-OK.

there was only about $7 cash unaccounted for, prolly like one sandwich or something. much better

But that task seems a little overwhelming at the moment.

For now I’d just like to start keeping track of where all of my money’s going. This is especially important since the majority of my income exists as cash tips and somehow that cash seems to keep diappearing…

so according to mint.com, $210 fell into the cash/atm category in july. I’m pretty sure most of it went to things like sandwiches and turnpike tolls, and definitely some for trainfare, bus fare, laundry, and dinners out, but this month i’m going to know for sure!

Very much worth doing! It is important to see where you money is going and then you realize just how much you spend and on how many frivolous things.

it’s the little bits that come out of the atm and go for little expenses that i’ve lost track of!

I have to define one day in the week to do this. Otherwise I will forget about it as in the last weeks.
Perhaps Fridays or Sundays….
