For children and adults 4 weeks ago

I want to take a child first aid class and an adult one. I have a 4 year old and 5 year old and I wouldnt know the first thing to do in an emergency. Gotta do this asap!

In progress... 1 month ago

I am enrolled in a class a few miles away…I believe that the class is on September 5…so that’s another thing to knock off the list…

Actually, I’m re-training for CPR/FA as I didn’t manage to register for the refresher course in time. It’s kind of a drag having to make myself attend the full 8 lessons after a long day at work, but I find myself enjoying the classes.

And I suppose giving up 8 evenings is a small price to pay. I probably will never get to use my knowledge, but I would rather be prepared just in case.

On my 4th lesson already. If all goes well I could check this off by the 23rd.

CPR Training 1 year ago

I don’t think it’s worth taking the course unless you commit to recertify yourself every 6 months or so. You take the course, the knowledge is in your brain for about 30 days and then its gone.

Plus, it seems like more and more “health care professionals” are questioning certain CPR techniques. Should I give 15 chest compressions or 30 chest compressions? Should I give the person 2 breaths or skip the breaths all together and just stick to the chest compressions? Where should I feel for their pulse? Should I feel for one at all or just look at the color of their skin?

I give up!

Update 1 year ago

You know, I think this is going to have to wait until the summer, or maybe even until college. Not that I’m giving it up! Just postponing it. Already got a lot on my plate.

Definitely worth doing! 1 year ago

I recommend this for everybody, young or old. It is a very important thing to learn. You could save a life!

Not Worth It...Without Commitment 1 year ago

Getting certified is not worth it at all, unless you get retrained and refresh you skills/memory at least every year. I was certified in 2005 and I don’t remember a single thing… yet my training doesn’t expire ‘till April 2009. So don’t bother unless you’re willing to spend the money for retraining every six months to a year.

Done as of tomorrow. 2 years ago

I went to my first Red Cross DAT meeting last night and have a CPR class tonight and first aid tomorrow night so this one I am taking off the list!
