Trying the cable.. failing.. but not giving up!  — 7 months ago

First of all, knitting is sort of complicated to learn when you’re on your own and a lefty. I printed out a few sample how-to’s on how to make a cable and so far I failed with the first one. I’m off to try the next one. I really hope it works because cables are so pretty!

Worth doing!

Some time ago I saw this pattern, and had to make it. I played with cables before, but I never made them part of anything but swatch. I finished 2 pairs, my friends stole both, and cables were so incredibly easy, i couldn’t believe. It’s just plain old knit stitch, just in weird order:)

I have yet to use it in an actual piece but I will post it once I have something… It’s really hard to start off but once you get into it it seems to be really easy.

Cables used to intimidate me more than anything!  — 1 year ago

Worth doing!

Fortunately, I finally got the guts to go for it. It’s so freakin’ simple, and I wish I had tried a long time ago. I mainly learned by watching a video on this website (http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/advanced_techniques/ ), and trying to knit along with it. Now, I feel like I am a pro. That’s why it is time for me to move on to sweaters. (Oh, my!)

Progress...  — 1 year ago

Well, I’ve got about 16” and the cabling looks beautiful. It’s a pretty involved project, though, so it’ll be a while before I can call this one done.

Easy if you are able to use every finger on your hands! (seems like, anyways) Worth it! Stick with it.

I have started on this – an Adrienne Vittadini knee-length cabled cardigan from the Fall 2006 collection with such a complicated pattern that I had to chart it out on graph paper. I am using black Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride, which is my very favorite yarn (85% wool, 15% mohair, single ply, wonderful to touch). So far, though – just done 2” of ribbing at the bottom and stopped right when I was about to start the cable pattern.
