Snickerdoodles....yum! 22 months ago

Yesterday I baked some snickerdoodles….they are quite yummy. I went to a Christmas Cookie exchange and gave most of them away….the party was fun.

Brought home a bunch of different cookies to ruin my “don’t gain weight goal”. I will try to have willpower!

Yes, done! 23 months ago

Okay, absolutely no more time to bake cookies before I go on holiday. I may bake some more when I’m at my brother’s house though, so with that in mind I’m going to declare that this goal is done! Worth it, if only for the sense of accomplishment! db

I'm done (for now)! 23 months ago

Ok, I just finished the third batch of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies—they are so yummy and so easy to make! I was planning on making a third kind, pecan-raspberry jewels, but I don’t think i’ll have time before christmas, and there’s really no need (there are cookies at home, at work, everywhere) so even though those are the most christmasy of my assortment I don’t feel badly about not doing those. (I’ll make those on valentines day maybe). I’ll leave this on my list though in case I get inspired over the next few days and decide to try to pull those together (unfortunately they are very labor intensive, but so worth it)!

This is counter-intuitive to my resolution to not gain weight. However, I know that my son and his friends will certainly appreciate some cookies. My plan is to give away most of what I make to some of my dear friends who have helped me a lot this year.

OK, the capuccino biscotti are done and they are quite tasty! They aren’t as uniform and even in appearance as I would have liked them to be, but I guess that just gives them that homemade look. I also mixed up my second recipe, pumpkin-chocolate chip cookies and put the dough in the fridge to bake up tomorrow. Now, I just have a huge mess in the kitchen to clean up. :) db

Effort Finally Underway: Capuccino Biscotti 23 months ago

Ok, the first batch is in the oven! I’ve been thinking/preparing for this baking bout for days; it’s actually alot more fun than I thought it might be. I realized that none of the recipes I have picked out are strictly holiday themed, but since this is the only time all year I bake, then they’ve become de facto “christmas cookies” for me. The first recipe is Capuccino Biscotti from joyofbaking.com, and I’ve included a picture of what they are supposed to look like when they’re done—we’ll see. Wish me luck! :) db

Yes, me, bake... 1 year ago

OK, so I’m not much of a genius in the kitchen, but I do know how to make a couple of different kinds of cookies really, really well. Not exactly christmas cookies maybe, but holiday-ish cookies. People always tell me that my pecan raspberry jam cookies are the best they’ve ever had, an last year I discovered this fabulous chocalate chip pumpkin cookie which is everything good about the holidays rolled up in to one little bite. I hope to bake some when i am at my sister’s house this weekend for Thanksgiving, because I like being in the kitchen with my sisters, and then again when I am back at my own place, to bring into work and share with friends. Obstacles are: getting organized enough to shop for the ingredients and finding time to actually do the baking. Also, the fact that my office is inundated with sweets this time of year is sort of a de-motivator, the last thing we need is more cookies. But want? Yes, we probably all want another cookie or two. db

I actually send out Christmas cookie boxes 2 years ago

It got to the point where I had to start collecting my recipes on my blog so I could keep track of which recipes I was going to use on a particular year.

Now, I try to scale back and only make a few (like three or four recipes) at a time rather than ten or so. It makes life much easier.

If you set a goal of only one or two recipes (and definitely not chocolate chip cookies), then it makes it much easier to meet that goal.

If it helps, here is my collection of Christmas cookie recipes:

Good luck and have fun!

Next year... 2 years ago

... all I need is an oven that heats evenly and more people to give cookies to. :]

Other than that, this went really well.

Didn't make 2 years ago

as many types as I’d hoped, but made a few. Next year I want to start earlier and make more.
