How to buy a car"A long road, filled with hopes and disappointments, but very rewarding in the end."
How I did it: I spent weeks going to used car lots, and checking out online sites such as cars.com. Sometimes I'd see a great looking car, but it was too much money, or the fuel economy was bad. Once in a while I'd find what seemed to be the perfect car, only to go to the dealership and find that it was recently sold. Lessons & tips: This is one of the biggest investments of your life ... choose the car wisely. Resources: I looked up local used car dealerships and made a lot of great use out of www.cars.com

This weekend I got my dad to call for 3 cars. 2 had already gone and 1 was a repaired car that the dealer didn’t know the damage of.
Maybe I should’ve listed this as ‘find a car’...
in the very distant future…I will own my own car.
I say distant future as I can ill afford to buy a bike at the moment :(
Oh well, I will not let that get in the way of wildly imagining what my first car will look like.
I’d like a classic (that works), something cheap and cheerful.
Nissan Figaro (not so cheap but definitely cheerful)
Beetle (Could I do one up? Most likely not…I know ZERO about cars)
Morris Minor (another classic beauty)
Anybody own any of these cars??
I’m experiencing a bit of guilt over this goal since the environment is very important for me, but so is the autonomy and freedom of having my own car. I’ll carpool, I promise!
Anyways, by the time I’ll get my driver license and have enough money to actually buy a car, the electric car will have been on the market for so long, I’ll probably be able to get a used one!

A baby blue 2000 Fiat Punto 1.2, 25k on the clock, £1,650, new stereo, MOT’d and serviced with a new cambelt fitted!
This is a long-term goal, but once I have a savings and can afford car payments and travel expenses all at once, then I will consider it time to get a car…

finito!
yay bought a car & have now been driving in around for a week. all my money goes towards it though, rather annoying.
I’ve filled out all the paper work, ordered the car, did the first payment and am now waiting for the license…. and have been waiting for more than 2 months now. Sometimes I love the administration here.

fanboy asks,
“How do you effectively haggle? I know what the dealer paid and the retail value (asking price) is about 16% higher. What's their expected profit margin?”
