How I did it: I spent weeks going to used car lots, and checking out online sites such as cars.com. Sometimes I'd see a great looking car, but it was too much money, or the fuel economy was bad. Once in a while I'd find what seemed to be the perfect car, only to go to the dealership and find that it was recently sold. A baby blue 2000 Fiat Punto 1.2, 25k on the clock, £1,650, new stereo, MOT’d and serviced with a new cambelt fitted. The insurance was £1045.64 by dircect debit and seeing as the car and the insurance deposit is coming out of a savings account from my grandparents, I’m only paying £846 overall which works out as £94/month for 9 months. Pretty chuffed!
This is a long-term goal, but once I have a savings and can afford car payments and travel expenses all at once, then I will consider it time to get a car…

yay bought a car & have now been driving in around for a week. all my money goes towards it though, rather annoying.
I’ve filled out all the paper work, ordered the car, did the first payment and am now waiting for the license…. and have been waiting for more than 2 months now. Sometimes I love the administration here.
It’s been 2 years since I last owned a car due to a car accident involving a cow that alas, lost it’s life. My life has since gotten particularly busy of late and well buying a car is a must to alleviate some of the stress from my partner who has to run me around.
So it’s back on the band-wagon and a car hunting I will go. No doubt it will feel good to get behind the wheel again and have more freedom and mobility.

Just signed the contract! Woo soo excited. Except that it is getting inspected and if it doesn’t come back as mechanically sound I won’t buy it. It will probably come back OK.

Eu já iniciei um consórcio, o que já é um começo. Mensalmente pago as parcelas em dia, para entrar em todos os sorteios. Já paguei 7 parcelas adiantadas, mas hoje não consigo mais adiantar nenhuma e, por conseguinte, nem dar lances :P
Mas é bom que eu não ganhe por ora, pois um novo carro requer despesas como combustível, seguro e acessórios.
