I have my license as of September 2012. I’m getting the house in less than 30 days, so i cant afford the luxury of a vehicle just yet. My boyfriend needs a car to get to work, so if he wants one before the next year that’s his responsibility.
My plan is to wait about a year, so I can realistically pay outright for a used automatic. By then, I’ll have had my license for 2 years, which my insurer says will lessen my premium. In my state it goes down a little each year until the third year, but I don’t want to wait that long. I’m in no hurry, but with the other expenses, it’s going to be a complicated process. I waited 30 years for a license. Lets hope I don’t wait that long to buy a car! 1 week ago

Within the price range and everything. A squillion miles on it and not particularly fuel efficient but under a warranty with all new whatschmahoozits and guaranteed.
Now I just have to drive it to LA when I have a spare 9 hours. 2 weeks ago

...it won’t be very hard to save for that car after all once I get my tax return. Hooray! 3 weeks ago

Getting a big fat tax return here ASAP hopefully, which will help bring me out of debt (a $500 debt to me is like $50,000 to a normal person) and bring my savings up just enough to start looking for a new car! My budget will be $2000. That’s all I know right now. 4 weeks ago

How I did it: After a long spell with no car I found one cheap from a neighbor that's running good. interior sucks, but oh well. Made arrangements to pay in 2 payments, got new tires, got it legal ( registration, insurance, etc.) and got it on the road! Feels weird to drive again.
Lots to do - oil change, timing belt, melt the frozen water in the wiper well, you know...
Point A to point B car, but it's a start! Read how I did it… 2 years ago
