join one of the co-ed softball leagues around here. One of our other T-ball coaches had to quit her team after she had a baby, and she had said they were looking for another player. And then my health collapsed…. sigh…. breathe.
I may just not be able to do this again. May be too much. Like running…. Just another thing to let go. inhale. exhale.

There’s a few options when you go to the batting cages. One is the size of the ball (baseball/small or softball/huge). The other option is the speed – slow or fast. In slow-pitch, the ball gets lobbed really high. It was cheap at around $15/half-hour.
Yeah, the batting cages are fun, but it was rough on my hands. The first time I went, the crook of my hand was all black & blue, and I could barely even hold a pencil afterward. And when I went today, my other thumb was killing me the entire time.

I got most of the day off yesterday and it was so gorgeous out, so the boyfriend and I found a place and went for awhile… I didn’t expect to even be able to hit the ball but I did and we both had a great time. We’re going back when we’ve got more money, and I can’t wait!!

I was always introducing the kids to new experiences, archaeology digs, archery, baseball, karate, and sometimes I would learn to do these things with them…usually to my detriment I must say.
My son thought I was such a weenie cause when I (eventually) hit the ball I would complain about needing batting gloves. It was my daughter’s first try at hitting a softball and she was hitting quite well. But me, well… it was a good time tho.
Batting cages, I must say, are nowhere near as bad as learning to skateboard or snowboard. Did you know that flannel fibres can be implanted into your skin? Serious. But that is another category so another story for another post.

Does anyone in the NY-NJ metro area know where there are some good batting cages??

I used to do this pretty regularly. This is a really fun stress reliever and (somewhat) easy thing to do, so try to make a point of doing it.

...but the place we thought we could go is out of business. So I need to find another place. I would like to do this before it gets too hot in Baltimore.
