Did this yesterday 1 month ago

Just wanted to see if it was a “thing” here; I guess so… was having intense pains in my abdomen for awhile (have a history of unexplained digestive system related issues), my boyfriend called 911 and the paramedics rushed me to the hospital, they think it was my gallbladder and a doctor never got around to seeing me so I’m back at home hopefully going to find out if I have to get an operation or what :/

(Also noted saying that it’s worth doing cuz it could save your life, so why not? Kinda was a relaxing ride to me too.)

EDIT: Ok turns out after I finally got to see a doctor that I have a kidney infection, so I’m having to drink water and take medicine for it (antibiotics and potassium supplements). I’m feeling pretty icky and often nauseous, but other than that if I stick to the doctor’s instructions, nothing absolutely terrible should happen. Yay.

EDIT EDIT: Ok scratch that, still having symptoms, yet worse, and my kidneys are fine. I’m told it probably IS my gallbladder. I guess I’ll find out later, grr… stupid doctors :|

Some medics took me on their dinner run to McDonalds. It is interesting how such a big box can accelerate and handle turns, with everything shaking around in the back.

Once for myself when I was having severe headaches.
One time when my oldest two children got into their grandma’s medicne bag and my oldest son shared with his little sister. Oie what a long night that was. all was well in the end!

I guess my ambulance experience wasn’t that bad. I went to the hospital once and one of the better parts was beign moved to another hospital. I was in the ambulance with the emt and paramedic, and the one guy turned on the radio and we just sat there and talked while we drove. It was really relaxing, and that guy made such an impact on my life. He was pretty awesome. His name was Adam Plotz. I have always wanted to thank him.

It was when i first moved in 2 my own place & the lady that lived down stairs was suffering from chest pains one night & me & my partner was quite worried about her so an ambulance was called 2 take her 2 the hospital & she asked if we would go with her. So we agree & my partner sat up front & i was sat in the back of the abulance & boy did i feel sick it was doing about 90mh & i could feel every bump in the road it was awful. So i decide that if i ever need 2 go 2 the hospital i’ll get a taxi.

Due to my bad luck and whatever else I’ve been cursed with, I’ve had many ambulance “rides.” (So glad I’ve got good insurance, LOL.) I would definitely say that they are not fun, and most of the time the gurney is extremely uncomfortable. Plus the ride is usually very bumpy anyway, so it’s pointless if you are in pain and trying to lie still.

And the other thing is that it can feel really embarrassing, too. People like to gawk and stare when they see an ambulance, or someone hurt and something going on. So they’ll watch, with no regard for the embarrassment of the person being loaded into the ambulance (or out of it). So yeah, usually for me it was just really embarrassing, like, “oh please, not AGAIN.”

Just been caught in a chemical spill on the bus home from work :( 3 years ago

Some total idiot school cleaner took some chemical floor cleaner home from school (decanted into a plastic bottle) and when he was on the bus it started reacting with the bottle and there were horrid fumes on the bus. Guess he didn’t pay attention in chemistry at school.

We got off as soon as we could but I had trouble breathing so the bus driver insisted on calling an ambulance for me. The fumes set my asthma off. Boo. Everyone else was fine once they got into the fresh air.

Then we had a couple of fire engines and then some more and the ambulances arrived and sealed off the road because of the unknown nature of the chemicals. This was despite all the other passengers being healthy and getting on busses that passed through in the 10 mins it took the emergency services to arrive. And despite quite a few firemen without breathing apparatus or chemical suits entering the bus to ‘see what caused the fumes’. Safety first guys?

6 fire engines, fire control, ambulance, ambulance control, police etc. We couldn’t leave until it was identified and then they turned it into a full scale terrorist chemical drill. Just my luck. I just wanted to get home.

Eventually after a couple of sessions on the nebuliser of salbutamol I started feeling better. But still couldn’t leave as we were in the cordon. I didn’t want to go to hospital as all they’d do is observe me and all I’d do was get bored. Let others see the overstretched doctors – I didn’t need to see them.

In the end I was stuck inside the hot ambulance (under nil by mouth) in the cordon for an hour while tests for the chemical took place. Eventually they decided it was safe enough for me to go home and the ambulance crew drove me the 300m home and helped me up to my flat.

I would have to say that I could have happily lived my life without having a ride in an ambulance. At least it wasn’t for anything really serious.

    I’m 99% fine now. :)
