How to get a pet

 "I was not sure about having a cat again, but the life decided for me =)"
How I did it: After my old cat died two years ago I didn't want to have a pet again - I missed the old cat. He was great. Last winter I started again to think about having a cat. We went to the animal shelter, but I didn't find the "right" one. And now I really got a cat by suprise. My mother called me during my working time and said something about a cat which was rescueed from a difficult family. Maybe she - the cat - could stay at my place for a while. I was in hurry and said yes, yes okay - only to come back to my work. Decission made so easily =) Now I have a beautiful black cat here at home. At first she was hiding all the time, but she is getting more and more trust in me. I'm very curious what will happen in the next time and how she is growing. Oh - I named her "Lotte" - isn't that cute? |

How I did it: I finally got a pet....just a fish...but a pet nonetheless. I decided one day, there had been enough talk of getting a fish and went straight to the pet store. How I did it: A neighbours cat would visit us every now and then. The neighbour is a bit neglectful of the cat adn doesnt care what he does :( So we started feeding him and he came over more regularly. We give him a warm place to sleep at night (because the neighbour kicks him out at night). So now he comes over at about 6pm for dinner, stays till 9ish, leaves for a toilet break and most likely more dinners elsewhere, then comes to bed at around 11pm. … Read how I did it…

How I did it: I was obsessed with Petfinder.com. I found my beautiful cat through an adoption group. She was a full grown cat and about 6.5 pounds (skin and bones). We are working out her allergies to foods and environmental ones (like me, she's even allergic to dust) and she seems to be making a good deal of progress. It will be an ongoing battle throughout her life though. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I got my parents to find people with bunnies. They were nice and gave me three. One girl and two boys. Though the girl was pregnant at the time so in the end I found that we had, 5 babies :D. I’m not sure how it happened, but today I had a conversation with my mom about getting a bunny. She really wasn’t thrilled about it and said she’d rather me get something else. I didn’t think she’d let me have another dog, but I talked her into it so this week I’m getting a little Dachshund puppy!

I’m hoping to get a bunny for Christmas. I still live at home though so first I need to show my mom that I’m responsible enough to take care of my pet. I sense I’m going to be doing a lot of chores & a lot of research on these little critters!

yesterday the people from the animal shelter came again to bring Lotte back to me =) Yey! She behaved like a beserker at the other place and they saw that she is really, really not happy. When they open the transport box at my place she came out of it like a diva and was going directly to me. Hach, I’m so glad to have her back.

I thought it would be credited to me that I took a cat from a animal shelter. but it didn’t!!! They make everything so complicated! I’ve git the cat for two months now and yesterday three ! people from the shelter stormed into my place, made the cat totally nervous and speeking the hole time only about my working time. Yes, I have a job and thats why I’m not at home for 9 hours a day. The cat is sleeping most of the time, so its not so bad. But this was the reason to take the cat away from me. After two months! And the cat liked me and everything. I’m so pissed! ten minutes and thats it – they took the poor little cat to another place with new people.
So I had a very sad day yesterday. And today suprisingly the woman from the shelter called me again and said, they will bring the cat back to me this afternoon because she was to difficult to handle. No. Really?! suddenly it is okay to let the cat alone during the day. What for stupid and unsensitive people. Now I am excited how about they’ll do the transfer… grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. At the moment I don’t have the feeling that its worth it – oh they are coming… wish me luck!

Yesterday my mom and I went to an animal shelter to find a nice kitty for me and an older one for my mom. But – we didn’t get one. I always thought the animal shelters have problems to find someone to adopt a cat. But its the other way around. Lots of people and no cats. Yes, not “no cats” – but no cat, which likes to live in a flat. The left ones needed a garden, which I have only during the weekends.
And – interesting – they wouldn’t give me one anyway, because I work full-time. A little bit understandable because the cat will be alone in this time. But I asked, when I would be unemployed and would have time, I would have a problem, too. Because then I don’t have the money to care for the cat. Häh? not easy to solve this problem. Maybe they handle it to complicated.
So, no cat for me… at the moment, puhpuh
