I just got engaged in PR in March! It was my first visit… Stayed in San Juan, visited Viejo San Juan’forts and the gardens of Ponce de Leon, and las Minas falls in el Yunque. Sadly, Camuy Caves was closed due to an accident a while back, which also meant we weren’t going to the observatory. There was also abnormally strong winds when we went to our pools and most of the beaches were closed the majority of the time we were there. We also missed out on the Bacardi distillary! ugh… But we still had a wonderful time of course :)
I would like to visit more places next time I go( especially Vieques!)

Puerto Rico
I lived in Puerto Rico for four years and I loved it. The place I lived was Mayaguez. I went to school in the University of Puerto Rico. I got my Environmental Science degree. It was an amazing time. My sister got married and lives there. She loves it. They are always at the beach or at some events. It is a great place to raise your family, live and have fun. I go there every six month. I recommend buying the airline ticket before February. They are very cheap and accessible.

I have never wanted to go to Puerto Rico until now because my grandmother is getting old. And I want to see her before she dies. And I am half Puerto Rican and what is the point of being the race and not knowing what it looks like!

... I’m giving up on long term goals until I’m settled in Oz, and this is one of them!

So many things to do… I’m from there. I lived in PR for 22 years. I miss my little island. Food is wonderful! Beaches are fabulous and traveling to and from is easy.

It’s funny I never thought Puerto Rico was a place I’d like to visit, but I just watched a Rachel Ray ”$40 a Day” special where she visited there and I am hooked. It is just gorgeous and there sounds like so much to do there and great food. I would really like to go there sometime.

Spend time in Old San Juan,
walk on the cobble stones,
walk the wall in El Morro.
Visit a Coffee plantation,
the small jungle forest,
dance until sunrise,
relax on the beach,
visit multiple beaches.
Make new friends.

Threads is looking forward to finishing school...for now.
Highly recommend it!...My friend loved it so much he owns a little cafe about an hour from San Juan. The water was incredible and better then you can image. Old San Juan is a great place to check out, although too many tourists. Try visiting the Camuy Cave (especially you spelunkers out there) and horseback riding in the Yunque rain forest.

I went to Puerto Rico a few years ago, I want to go back again.
This is my experience going there. As soon as the plane goes down to the airport, you start seeing these beautiful white buildings on top of this huge hill, it is the Old San Juan area of San Juan.
From then on San Juan is a very nice place. I didnt go to all the places I wanted to go, but I did went to the beaches and tasted the different foods there.
They have everything that you would normally see in the US in terms of Restaurants and Fast Food places. So I would suggest going to the local restuarants that make Puerto Rican foods. I really liked the seafood dishes.
We stayed in the town Guanica, a place in the Southern Part of Puerto Rico, 2 hour drive from San Juan. Its a beautiful place, alot of beaches there.
Its a good experience, San Juan lights up at night but I suggest going to Old San Juan, such history and beauty in that area. All in all, I enjoyed myself and want to go again!
I’ll give a better review when I go next time.
