Great fun, and the towns look so pretty when all the decorations are up and there are people skating, and stands selling gluhwein and waffles.

if for nothing else, going from gluhwein stand to gluhwein stand. The decorations can be meh, like everything else. It’s the 21st century, which means half of what you might find is mass produced somewhere in China.

If you want fantastical handmade Black Forest carved wooden smokers, you have to pay for them. But if you do want them – at least you can find them.

When it gets dark out, and the lights twinkle and all the spices combine and you stop to have just one more pint somewhere. Oh, it’s magical!

Just put on that christmas hat, practice your falalalala’s and you’ll have a blast. The markets are cute, with lots of small stand (mostly loaded with junk and food and the combination of the two). Be prepared to overeat.

is unbelievable! Although it is difficult to find gifts for people here (Americans have everything!) the markets are beautiful and it is great to snuggle up with a warm mug of glühwein, smell the roasting nuts, and watch tourists.
