Step 1 Complete – Have finished some brief film excerpts setting previously scored scenes (Bergman’s Persona and Aldomavar’s Talk to Her). Am now familiar with the necessary technology.
Step 2 – Have been in contact with a local filmmaker whose wrapping up a project. Keep in close contact and convince him to let me get my grubby mitts on it as soon as its ready!

In progress

I now have the final cut of Max’s short film, and about a minute and a half completely scored. I met with him yesterday, and I think he was quite happy with what I had done. Although he doesn’t have much of a background in music, i find that he is very good at communicating what he wants in terms of music. That’s good for me, because it means less re-writing and editing later on.

Score a film
Technically, I’ve done this one, but he indie film never really saw the light of day. I’m a solid musician with all of the tools I need to score a film. I just need to be more adamant in trying to find the right people.

I’ve been playing around with MOTU digital performer and symphonic instrument, and it’s been devouring my free time. The program DP has something like five different interfaces for creating and editing the same piece of music, and the Symphonic Instrument has samples of orchestras that are nearly indistinguishable from the real thing. I’ve come up with some pretty epic chunks of symphonic music that i will eventually weave together and use for a short action film that a friend is making. i have doubts about the quality of the movie itself, but it will be uploaded to youtube, which means that my music will get exposure. Which is good. If i ever want to do film scoring professionally, i need to have a portfolio, and where i am in the process right now, i can’t really afford not to take any opportunity i can get (regardless of how crappy it is)

ok, so there are three film-makers in the midsts of projects who have asked me to do music for them. their films are not done, and i am skeptical as to whether any of them will actually be completed. however, one out of three is not that bad to ask for, so i’d say i have a good shot at completing this one in early to mid 2008.

i got a call from max the other day, and he asked me to collaborate with him on his next movie, which is planned to be about 6-10 minutes long.

This is going to happen soon, Max said that he likes my music, and that it is perfect for film, so he’ll let me know about his upcoming projects. Also, I have a shot scoring a movie for school’s film festival.

Max Strebel expresses interest in collaborating with me for one of his movies (short, documentary, feature? IDK.) so if i play my cards right, this one is a distinct possibility.

My main focus at the moment is music for films and documentairies.
I need to say that Holland is fine for documentairies. Most of them are of high level. I am new to this, because previously I have done music for other media. Some of my work was used on television but without edits and not written in sync with the images.
