How I did it: Not really worth it... its nice to write/receive letters but shipping costs and the fact that where i live is so similar to where i'm from make this uninteresting after all. Read how I did it… 4 years ago

I have an awesome idea…
Instead of doing ‘packages’ whenever, i’m going to mail packages of stuff to my family and friends for christmas and mark it do not open until Christmas.
Its a way exciting thing to get in the mail, and it means i won’t have to take bags full of stuff in my luggage on the plane and i shouldn’t need to do much/any shopping when i get home this year.
Here’s the list of victims:
Zann and Richard
Tosha
Ben
Ashley
Christian
Dave
Dad @ Mary
Mom
Shilo
Steph @ Paul
Ashley
Maegs
Sarah @ Brett
Erica
Katrina @ Matt
Becca @ Jason
I think that’ll just about do it.
I might ship myself 1 box with lots of little boxes inside it. but i think it will be more fun to send little boxes to everyone individually.

If i’m looking to make up care packages, i think the best is to sort of accumulate for a few people at once.
So the first three people that i’m going to mail stuff to are:
-Shilo!
-Becca!
-Katrina! 4 years ago

And i was thinking of all the folks at home.
I’m really looking forward to mailing things.
In fact, i’m going to build in a communications budget into my general budget for this year.
In addition to writing a letter a week, i plan to send a little package to one of my friends or family members every week or two. Especially the kids, and the big kids (my friends) will really appreciate this.
I’m on the look out for flat small stuff as of NOW. 4 years ago

I just posted an envelope full of art (okay textile art so it was light) to japan, and it took under a week to arrive there REGULAR MAIL and cost just under 4 dollars to send… AMAZING!
You should totally send a package to sensai every once in a while, and or to the Ogawa’s in Osaka.. i’m sure they would both be thrilled!!! 5 years ago

So the joke I referred to in the last entry is when someone calls at work, and asks if you’re busy, our two responses are “Oh no, I’m just coloring,” or “I’m just counting my paperclips.” (My personal favorite is “No!! I was sitting here waiting for your call!”)
Last week I got a package from Mom – a box of colored paperclips with the following instructions:
1. Sort paperclips by color.
2. Count each color.
3. Replace in box and shake.
4. Do again tomorrow.

I found out we can mail packages from work, so I’m going to start putting together some fun outgoing packages soon!! 6 years ago

My family has a running joke about coloring at work, and I’m a big fan of color-coding, etc systems. I just started a new job, and I got a bubble envelope at work from my sister the other day. She sent me a package of highlighters!!! I absolutely loved it, and I really DO think of her every time I use them <3 <3 <3 6 years ago

I have tons of scraps of fabric and ribbon, as well as many other crafty materials, and I’ve started making mixed media postcards. Everything is glue-gunned down, so it’s “postally sound,” according to my mailcarrier :-D
Just a little sample of what I’m working on right now, these 4 are all mid-process. 6 years ago

Despite my lack of support for the war in Iraq, I do wholeheartedly support the young people stationed there. I went buck-wild at Target today buying games, snacks and DVDs to send. I can’t fathom the idea of being in a warzone and not being able to know that there are people out there who care about how you’re doing. 7 years ago

Well I haven’t quite worked my way up to this goal creativity-wise, but I did join www.postcrossing.com and so far am thouroughly enjoying sending post cards all over the world. It definitely gives me something small to look forward to and facilitates my daydreaming about someday picking up and leaving the US. 7 years ago
