Yesterday when I was feeling ill and still trying to recover some sleep and deal with places where things seemed stuck, it was impossible to think that yes, the agent to whom I sent the latest submission would actually reply to request to see more of my work; today, feeling healthy, having slept better than in the last two weeks and happy to be alive, I think it doesn’t matter either way. If it’s not this agent, I will find my way to other ones where the submission was as well targeted as this one, and proceed. And of course, continue writing, which is the only sure thing about this whole process…

... but I’m going one step at a time. The novel (which was a subject of a previous goal here) is written and edited; it is ship-shape and ready. And, while reaching out to accomplish this goal, I continue to enjoy writing novel #2…
I have substantially completed a memoir of my eventful and interesting life, posting it in episodes on my blog. Readers continually advise me to publish it in book form, which I want to do. It needs an editor, and I need an agent.

I can’t believe how cheap some of these magazines can be. Now I know what people talk about when they talk about a struggling writer. $45 for an article? hmmmmm. Well, I guess as long as it gets your name in print and you get to do what you love, right?
Well, I’m not expecting to get rich anytime soon. I just find it a little amusing that for the most part writing is so underrated and underpaid when so much effort is put in.
Anyhoo, I’m off my soap box for now. Now its time to get busy on that query letter.

it came sooner than I was expecting! 2 1/2 weeks, not bad! I wonder if I’ll start hearing from other agents soon?

goddamnit, when I gt home today, I’m gonna EMAIL someone! I don’t know whuy but suddenly I think I have the nerve to do it. Putting together a summary will still be difficult. I’m thinking that could be becasue I’m not exactly sure what makes for a good summary…. like…. should I give away the ending of the story or leave them hanging? How long should it be? WTF?
Bah, I’m emailing someone. I have a list! I need to do this! If I don’t, yell at me, berate me, tell me I’m a fat lazy bitch who will never get published, never get famous and make a million dollars, never win the nobel prize and never see Masters turned into a movie starring Kiera Knightley. Yeah. I need to do it! XP

First off, this is going to take some research. My other goal related to writing has simply been to WRITE, but this one is going to take some more planning. I would really like to have someone who appreciates the kind of work that I do.
I was so happy to sign a contract with an agent but she turned out to be unprofessional and emotionally unstable. I learned a lot. I’ll be a lot more careful next time.
