Learn to play the keyboard

i just think it would be nice to be able to play a musical instrument and am not hollywood style passionate about learning the keyboard. so this might be whats keeping me from actually learning the stuff. but i ve bought an expensive keyboard and better start learning and not just dust it every now and then.
looking to gain inspiration from all the people here and hope to inspire others in the future. plz cheer me on :)

I got off to a great start here – have found myself a good teacher. Two things on my list now – atleast 5 times a week practice for 30 mins in the evening. Maybe 6 to 6:30 can be my keyboard time every evening.
My personal milestones for this:

Milestone 1 : By Jan 2009 end, make keyboard playing as a part of my schedule
Milestone 2: By April 2009 end – manage to play chords well alongwith songs
Milestone 3: By July 2009 end – figuring out how to play simple songs by listening to them
Milestone 4: By Oct 2009 end – figuring out how to play complicated songs by listening to them

My keyboard will be here by the end of the week :) I’ll brush up on reading music in treble clef again while I wait.

We have an electronic Yamaha Keyboard which is a nice musical instrument. In the past few weeks I have sat down and progressed through some keyboarding lessons which have been a huge benefit.

Recently some friends made a suggestion for me to compose my own song or tune I should say. I am a huge believer in Music Therapy and using the keyboard along with my guitar to compose a few music pieces may be a huge benefit for not only myself but my family as well as you the people reading this post.

Music is great and can be so peaceful and relaxing to listen to.

I’m on page 36 of the keyboard book :) I know 3 chords and can play the hovis song very very slowly! I suck but I’m still going and thats the point ;)

Haven’t touched it for two months(spank!).It just makes me so completely and totally sad that i don’t know how to play my keyboard and i just sit in front of Him(yes,my keyboard’s a boy!)and play two ‘songs” i’ve come up with and just fooling around with the keys rather than actually playing.
^sigh

Just need to stick with it and thats the hard part…

I’m afraid it may be too late for me to learn to play the keyboard or the piano.I think i should have taken classes from a younger age(let’s say 5 or 6) and by now i could play it like a pro!I think it takes years to learn to play the keyboard,to perfect it.Anyone knows how many years it takes?I think i’ve heard it takes like 9 years.That means i’ll perfect my play by the age of 28!!!Oh my God…:(((
