learn irish step dance

I’ve started taking Irish Step Dance Lessons- they are pretty casual- a local group offers them. I can do 2 routines so far and it’s a lot of fun. The other day I saw a demonstration of some really awesome irish step dance from a dance studio that’s an hour or so away from here- they were incredible! They were also really really young! I wish I could have started this when I was a kid but it wasn’t to be I guess- so am happy to just be able to do it at all.

I am hoping I will be able to continue with this as I have just messed up some tendons or something in my leg(not from dancing) and will need to do some PT on it- so will have to take a break from dance for a bit I suppose- will see how it goes I guess. Or if it doesn’t hurt too much, will just keep dancing perhaps…...

I have never actually seen “Riverdance”- my library is going to try to borrow a copy from another library. Will get even more inspired….

I’ve always loved the Irish Dance and Music. Pretty much whenever i go on the computer i go onto youtube and watch Irish Dance and listen to the music.

So today i decided i wanted to learn Irish step-dance well actually i decided that ager’s ago but i actually learnt some stuff today.

I went on Youtube as usual and looked for video’s that would help me and i also looked on google and came across this really awsume website that helps teach people different dance’s and so it had irish dance so i printed some stuff out for later.

But today i learnt the Basic Position of your feet and also one of the basic steps. Jump Threes, thats what i learned today. I practiced for a bit and now can do it. Obviously not like the people on youtube but good enough for now. Lols.

Towmorrow i hope to continue learning some more steps. I’ll proberly try and learn the Hops Threes and Sevens/Side Step. =]

Our last name says that we should be Scottish…though we could be a few other things as well thanks to us getting confused by immigration/travel even that long ago. It’s a common last name but still Scottish/Irish is all that I have to go on. When I was younger my mothers friend tried tap dancing which I think also got my interest up on things of that sort.
