Did 25km today. Bought new shoes as my old ones are dead. Hopefully this pair will work through the race. Time to put some serious mileage on over the next few weeks, and then the taper begins.
Training is going OK. Did 25km on Sunday and some intervals today. Last week managed five workouts, including 3 spin classes.
Down to 158 lbs.
Well, BSIM is now 116 days away. Time to pull together a training schedule. Did 13 km yesterday in nice weather. Need to focus on Hills.
It would be hard for any other marathon in the world to compete with this one! It is very beautiful and very challenging!
If you have yet to run your first marathon, I recommend joing a training program (like Team in Training) first. I trained with them for my first marathon last fall, and then was prepared to train for Big Sur this spring.
I made sure to works some big hills into all of my long training runs, and I ran the first 20 miles of the course about a month before the marathon for some practice. That gave me the confidence I needed.
Big Sur is tough, but well worth the effort!
First I will have to accomplish some other goals, like losing weight, excercising regularly, then I can think about training for a marathon. I will put a 5 year horizon on this goal, and I will do it!!! I love Big Sur and I feel connected to it, I think if I could accomplish running a marathon, that would be one of the biggest accomplishments of my life.
