My company has a recognition trip where they send outstanding performers on holiday at some really cool destinations. This year it’s Casablanca & Marrakech. And I am going!
Yup, they announced it during our annual kickoff event. And I am naturally elated and pleased beyond words. A lot of people came and congratulated me, telling me I deserved it. I was truly touched and honoured.
Actually, I was expecting it coz I asked my boss if he’d nominate me for this trip. I’ve been working really hard for the past year and I knew I’ve done well. It took me some time, debating internally if I should ask him. I didn’t want him to think that I am seeking for his approval and I was nervous whether he’d agree with my theory that I deserved it.
But I realize, if I don’t ask, I will not get. And I’d probably be asking “What if..” in my head for many days to come. So I figured, if I asked and i didn’t get it, at least I tried and perhaps get his feedback on how I could do better.
So yeah, I emailed my boss and ask if he thought i was worthy. And he thought I did.. the rest is history.. at least for the past 3 hours :)
I am so excited and now I have even more motivation to save up money and have a grand time checking out Casablanca! :)
p/s: This year is definitely starting out great! And it’s only January! ;)
