Current project - clean out the clutter, maybe... 7 months ago

It’s hard to get the home improvement projects done when the piles of life refuse are sitting in stacks and piles in front of the areas you need to reconstruct. I am an unofficial charter member of the Never Throw Anything Away Because You Might Need It Later Society. People in the NTAABYMNILS have an issue with actually putting things into refuse bins for fear that the fickle finger of fate will suddenly blast from the ionosphere and zero in on one’s nose to point out, in case anyone had missed it, that it is a flagrant disregard of the potential facts to do such a thing, because…that is just the time when whatever you casually tossed away will be Just The Thing that will complete some deficient thing or situation, making your life move forward as it was meant to do instead of encouraging either entropy or pushing your luck. So…I got piles and stacks. This is not an episode on Dr. Phil wherein we see the OCD-appelated, pathetic individual cowering pathetically in the corner of a seat while being castigated by a self-righteous, semi-corpulent, balding man who seems to think he knows stuff, more stuff than you at least. I am not OCD, just prudent. Some of these things in the stacks and piles have actually cured a rainy day or two. So there.

We only have three rooms to do to be finished.

WE ARE DONE! 11 months ago

We remodeled all three floors while living in it!
This has been a crazy three months but we ripped out old carpet, painted all walls and trim. Then we laid hardwood and new carpet. We painted our cabinets and got new countertops and appliances. We do have new chandeliers to put up but that can wait! It feels so good to be done!

What I've done in the last week.... 11 months ago

Nothing! sigh

3 years and.... 12 months ago

All we’ve done so far is:

-Fill in and sod huge hole is front yard.
-Graded back yard to include retaining wall to expand yard
-Added landscaping to side yard
-Painted eldest child’s bedroom, one coat, needs a second and trim
-Painted middle child’s bedroom, still need to finish trim
-Painted baby’s bedroom, still need to finish trim
-Painted the living room
-Painted the master bedroom
-Painted the kitchen, one coat, needs a second and trim
-Painted the DR for the 15,000 time and I still hate it
-Had an outbuilding built
-Added cabinets in the laundry room
-Painted exterior of house
-Changed out all blinds but in master bath, still need to remove extra slats

Yea, I think that’s it. Soooooo sad. It’s time to get serious!

Entire house repainted a neutral color so I should NEVER change again! 1 year ago

I am tired of my fade colors and decorating so I chose a neutral backdrop- a nice taupe, to compliment any mood I am in! I am getting smarter!

Laminate flooring put in 1 year ago

So we opted for a nicer laminate wood floor for our main living area. It’s only about 400 sq feet so we tackled it ourselves. The laminate we chose is individual planks instead of three boards at a time so it took longer but well worth it. It is really hard to tell it isn’t real hardwood!

Basement complete! 1 year ago

So the drywall is textured and painted and the ceiling is refixed. The only thing left is waiting for the carpet to be installed on October 5th!
Finally!
