teach people the difference between loose and lose

It’s been driving me nuts on this site how many people put “loose weight” or “loose virginity” or whatever it is they want to lose. Bah! :)

I was pretty surprised when I typed in this goal and discovered someone else already had it too! Yay us!

You do not “loose weight”. I, for one, do not want to see your love handles running free and unfettered. If you want to lose weight, that’s another story, and more power to you, I suppose.

Similarly, one does not “loose” one’s virginity. Your virginity stays in your virginal little bod until one fateful day, or night, or afternoon in the backseat of the car, it vanishes into the ether. While I’m sure there are people out there who would love to adopt a stray virginity, having inadvertently lost theirs… it sadly doesn’t work that way.
