I’ve been a DJ for the last 8 years. For the first 6 years I was buying records like crazy. But over the last couple, I’ve lost all motivation. It’s sad to me, because I adore vinyl. I love all the imperfections, the pops, crackles.. I love the purity in the sound quality. If I could have my entire music collection on vinyl, I would.
I need to get back on track. I need to start putting my money back into wax, and get myself back on pace to developing a healthy vinyl collection.
And on top of that, I just need to get behind my decks again and sling some wax… Or in other words.. I need to start playing records again. ;)
Ahh, I need some motivation….
because i am a materialist little piggie, and need my plastic spinning disc fix.
I’m not a dj, and never plan on being one in any professional capacity. I realize that buying more records would be silly for me. And besides I think I’m more into the guitar idea as for an instrumental outlet, or some sort of button pushing.
Been buying loads recently. Got the Douglas album the other day on double 7”. Limited to 300. I was going to buy it when it was origionally released but I never got round to it. Only like 3 or 4 quid off ebay. It was a great find.
I want to just work on getting all the clash and ramones albums on wax. I have about half of each.
I’ve bought two today though; Idlewild – The Remote Part, and the FOB/MOC split.
I really want Operation Ivy – Energy, Fairweather – Alaska, Grade – Triumph & Tragedy, NOFX/Rancid – Split, Propagandhi – Todays Empires Tomorrows Ashes and Osker – Treatment 5.
But I’m back on the black round things passed quietly from shifty bloke to shifty bloke at raves.
I mixed for about 3 hours today, flawlessly. I’m impressed.
