i originally wanted to tag my photos for print/organization for albums, but after adding up the cost for print and the cost of a digital photo frame (same), i decided to just go with the digital photo frame, organized by date. it’s nicer than an album, because i see it on the wall everyday. and i can change photo albums and add new ones whenever i want, freely.

this is something that gina and i were talking about just last week. it’s a small part of a plan to integrate photos of my friends and family into my life by displaying them around my house and in my office more, setting up a screen saver of photos, figuring out how to do that thing that macs can do, where you have a rotating set of photos running in background all the time. that sort of thing.
part of that requires tagging and cataloging all my photos.
there are two parts to that.
1. tagging and cataloging everything already digitized.
i’m using picasa to do this. i love picasa. i took a look a flickr the other day and it’s similar, but picasa seems a bit better.
this part of the project is going really well. i only had about 1,000 photos on my laptop. i’m almost done with those. next, i’d like to go around to all of my friends and borrow from their albums. that’ll take a while. not eveyone has all of their stuff online.
2. digitizing everything that hasn’t yet been digitized and then tagging and cataloging those photos.
this is going to be tough. i don’t even know how to get the most out of my scanner. and a lot photos will require some serious touching up. it’s going to be a long process!
i’d also like to get some photos from my friens and digitize those too.
