I read recently about the Pomodoro technique, whereby you set a timer (the official timer is shaped like a tomato) for 25 minutes. After working on your task for the 25 minutes, you take a 5 minute break.
I like this idea.
Pomodoros for me to do:
- clean car
- sort through summer clothes
- pack away winter clothes
- tidy and organize room
- put away suitcase
- organize Colorado gear
- book plane tickets
- take care of (shred/organize) paperwork 3 years ago
one (bed) two (bed) three (night table, floor) four (floor) five (desk) six (desk, floor) seven (dresser) eight (floor)
- nine (bookcase, mirrors)
(The idea is that when I’m cleaning, I divide each room/area into a grid of “zones” and then tackle one zone at a time starting at one side of the room and working to the other. It’s REALLY helpful because it stops you from just shuffling everything around and not actually getting anything done!) 3 years ago
Still somewhat convalescing from being sick, but here goes:
laundry get stuff out of car dishes read
- write a card to Grandpa
find a birthday card for Grandpa put away broken TKD boards dust dresser clear chair
- put away luggage

It’s 10:49am. I’ve been up for over two hours, and all I’ve done is take a shower and read a while. Not that those are bad, but I need to get up and do something!
I’d like to/need to:
go to the bank and make a deposit write two checks go to Marshall’s to look for journals go to TJMaxx to look for journals go to Borders to look for journals and buy The Art of War
- go to Orange Julius-
- not justify an orange julius by reminding myself that I’ve had a rough week
do at least 7 loads of laundry this weekend do my dishes
Yikes. Now I don’t want to do anything. But I shall press on… 3 years ago
Things I need to do today:
- order contacts – done, with great success! (Saved $130 AND they gave me 3 bottles of contact solution!)
- hang two paintings – done
- pay some bills – done
- clear my desk
- change sheets
- make some cds
- get rid of a chair – done
- make a corn souffle – on pause, since we’re missing some ingredients
- get rid of lots of stuff 3 years ago
I’m right in the middle of a glorious four-day weekend, and quite frankly I’ve not done much. Wednesday and Friday had TKD, Thursday a visit with my Grandma…and that’s just about all.
I’m extremely good at laying down and reading until I fall asleep, at all hours of the day, or getting sucked into watching shows like The Office online, or shuffling things around but not actually putting them away or doing anything with them. I’m also good at donning lounge clothes and being lazy.
So today I finally rolled out of bed and made myself go to the grocery store and the bookstore. Typically I enjoy these pursuits; I’d just been putting them off. I grabbed a pumpkin spice latte on the way home and have been diligently working ever since. And I watched The Mothman Prophecies, which is nice and creepy for Halloween. :)

You’re wasting your life. Stop wasting life.
Everything one step at a time. Stand up. Organise your desk. Organise your room. Clean the kitchen. Go outside Gasp!
I’ll start with those for now. 6 years ago
Last fall, because of this website and the great people here, I was introduced to FlyLady. Fly-what-y? Huh? Yeah, that’s what I thought, too.
Then I found the link to her website on someone’s list (by the way, her website can be found at www.flylady.com ) So I checked it out and started fluttering around. I was successful for a little while, but then began to get discouraged for a few reasons. (I did manage to keep my sink shiny, though! And baby steps helped me get our house ready for Thanksgiving:)
At New Years, I decided that I was really going to get serious about this Flying business. And I am so happy to say that so far I have been successful! Already our kitchen, livingroom, dining room, and entryway are looking sooo much better, and our bedroom is coming along nicely as well! This time, I was determined to make my control journal (including the dreaded ‘inspirational quotes’ page, lol) so now I have that tool to help me, too. It works better than I gave it credit for the last time! And it’s helping me to stay on track with my medicine, which is soooo nice:) Now I know if I’ve taken it or not! What a relief! It’s also helping me stay on track with my stretching and exercise, and I’m getting finished with my morning routines a lot quicker than before!
Today is day 13 for me. My mission is to clean out the downstairs freezer (something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile now.) It’s also laundry day…so I’m going to try to keep up the habit of dealing with it as soon as it’s finished and not letting it hang around in the dryer! Oh, and also thanks to FlyLady’s website and another nice person on 43things I have dinner/menu planning under control! I’m feeling so great about what I’m accomplishing, and I know that I can do it! No more feeling overwhelmed without a plan. Yippee!!!!! 7 years ago
Everythings done today except for cleaning out the refrigerator! 7 years ago
I actually did all of my ‘to do’s’ today before I let myself get distracted online! Yippee!!! 7 years ago
Today I need to:

4)dust the living room
5)go eat some breakfast
6)make sure and start dinner in plenty of time
7)figure out what to take to V’s tomorrow for dinner
8)remember what the last thing I wanted to put on this list was… ... ???.

Wrap all presents
Do the laundry
Have this all finished in time to pick up my kitty (Freckles) from the vet 7 years ago
for the next however long it takes, I will not be ‘getting up and doing someting’, but rather, I will be sitting down and finishing my mom’s Christmas present!
But right now I need to go fix dinner. At least I already know what to make! 7 years ago
which means it’s laundry day.
I should also finish putting things away from yesterday.
And if I feel so inclined(...:)...) I’ll start getting out the Christmas decorations. 7 years ago
today! Thankfully it wasn’t the overwhelming busy that makes you want to pull your hair out…but busy in a nicely paced sort of way:) All thanks to FLYLady, of course;) 7 years ago
Today I just want to go pick things up and put them away…not that I’ll intentionally go into a room to pick things up, but if I see something out of place when I’m there, I’ll deal with it. Yup. That’s how I’m feeling today… 7 years ago
Today’s to do’s:
Laundry day (as is every Friday…)
