LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!

I boiled potatoes using our reverse osmosis water. I don’t boil potatoes very often, but I think I’ve been using the tap water in the past. We have a water softener that uses salt, so that is not a brillant idea. Also, I didn’t add salt to the pot, although I did add the normal amount afterwards.

I ate fast food today which I’m sure is loaded with salt. I also ate some of my Mom’s chili which she told me was really salty. I ate this same chili the other day as well. I haven’t been sprinkling any salt on my food since I started this goal. Oh, I did sprinkle a bit on some eggs the other day, but not what I would normally use.

I used only half of the low sodium veggie broth and substituted the rest with water. Also, I didn’t add any salt at the table. It definitely could’ve used it though.

I made sure to check out the sodium content when shopping today and feel that I made some decent choices.

starting to take notice 3 weeks ago

Okay, I am trying to be more aware of daily sources of salt for me. I’ve been vegan for over 5 years and assumed that my sodium & chloride levels were fine. Well, they’re not. I just recently started adding eggs, cheese, milk, and some meats back into my diet. I’m not sure where the salt was coming from before, but I am going to start noticing now, I hope. Obviously, cheese is high in sodium. I like cheese! Also, I notice that cottage cheese and milk contain quite a bit of sodium. Maybe, if I just eat half the amount of food in a day that I normally eat I can cut my sodium intake in half without reading all of those labels! I should eat half my normal amount anyway.
