I picture it nestled amongst some trees – birch and pine and maples (kind of an eclectic mixture, I know). There’s smoke curling out of the chimney from the woodstove. There are lots of windows and it’s a bright little house (I haven’t quite figured out how I can have the forest and lots of sunlight at the same time, but I’ll worry about that later). It’s a little house, and inside it’s very open – the downstairs is mostly one big area that includes the kitchen and the living space. My loom is set up in the corner. There are cats and dogs sleeping in comfy places. Something’s simmering in a cast-iron pot on the woodstove. There’s a small fire burning in the fireplace. It’s October and everything smells crisp and homey and wholesome and inviting.

It's so worth it...

I live in a little home in the woods of North Florida which I designed and built with the help of a lot of friends. I’ve lived here 30 years and while I travel a lot, hope that this will remain my home for the rest of my life.
