So far, the “make politicians approve the LA River revitalization project by sending intimidating thoughts their way” isn’t working. (Nor did the letters). Except they approved some less desirable form of it. They’re stopping just outside downtown LA. They need to go all the way to the beach! Anyway, other than growing lots of things in the very small area of dirt I call my garden, and planting a few things in Compton, I haven’t done much here- how would I? Do I take a jackhammer to the empty lot that used to house a gas station and plant native shrubbery? Hmmm… 5 years ago
you can do your part too. you don’t neet to ask anyone, just plant a tree in the park. I planted an avocado tree, a peach tree and two giant sequoia seedlings. 5 years ago
..and the tracks run along the L.A. River. Right now it’s a mess of trash and graffiti, but the old bridges across it are really beautiful. There have been a few articles in the L.A. Times about proposals to clean up the River- including adding bike trails, redoing the concrete (since it’s technically a flood control channel) and mixing in lots of greenery. I’d love to see this happen! There are other proposals about parks downtown, adding more trees, etc. L.A. is an eccentric and fascinating place, with lots of hidden beauty. I’d love to help make it more beautiful by removing some of the less desirable things like concrete and chain link fences, and adding more parks and trees. 6 years ago
