I made a contribution to NaNoWriMo, but beyond that I never committed the time or effort into doing this. I never had a solid concept for characters or plot to even start writing. So I’ve given up for 2006. I’ll have to come up with a solid concept so I can do this in 2007.

Moreover, I’ve finished the story. So it’s not 50,000 words. Ok, so it’s not even 16,000 words. But the narative is complete. I don’t know if it’s any good. I’m pretty sure some of it is, but it’s hard to say how much. I’ve learned a lot, expecially about the differences between writing a short story, a novella and a novel. Starting with: what sort of idea makes a novel and what doesn’t.
Fun I have had. Lots. What a great, great thing NoNoWriMo is. I will deffinitly do it again, and next time I will try at a longer story.

said something like: writing about flowers and trees is a crime when so many wrongs are being done.
I should write about children dying in Beit Hanun.
I’m writing about the seal woman.
I will go to hell. The special hell for lazy radicals.

Not because I don’t like it, but because my novel has turned out to be hardly a novella. Still, it’s what I wanted to write. I’ll keep writing it and finish it by the end of the month, but I won’t officially “win” nanowrimo.
In order to write a novel, one has to have details. They slow the story down and enrich it. I have two problems with details: one is, I don’t know anything about anything. The second is, my symbolism doesn’t welcome them. I guess I’m not used to the novel pace. I write too fast.
In a novel there should be more characters and more story lines. I hope to find out that I can do that. I’m learning. So far I’ve only written poems and short stories. Now, a novella. I’ll get there in the end! There may yet be a Thackeray in me!

Okay, so I’ve registered with NaNoWriMo for the first time. I’m used to writing smaller things so this 50,000 word novel should be a fun challenge. The only problem I have is that it’s just two weeks away and I have no idea what I want to write.
Anyone have any suggestions for plot or characters or setting?

and got registered.
I made a typing error in my user name. Can’t change it, can’t register a different user on the same e-mail address. I feel so stupid. I guess I didn’t get my indian name for nothing.

Then I went to their website and registered myself for a NaNoReminder.
