How I did it: Books on tape makes it very easy. mp3's on the treadmill, in the car, cutting the grass.

How I did it: Sat down and read it. I was in junior high school and no doubt I was supposed to be reading something else, like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm or Anne of Green Gables, neither of which I could stand. My daughter, Jenn, when she was about 11, did like Anne. No one ever liked Rebecca.
I remember my mother disapproved of my reading choices. She thought Ayn Rand was "selfish". Read how I did it… 4 years ago

if this book is what i think its about then i’ve found another great source of inspiration for my quest. idealism and striving for things that exceed the expectation that was put on you by society onto you from an objective frame of mind, defeat all the odds against you and reach a peak of existence that would shock and inspire even me when i get there. 6 years ago

I’ve already pulled lots of “college companions” to fountainhead (from pink monkey, barron’s, etc.). still i want to get my library’s cliffs notes on this so i can just pull it out of my messenger bag every time i finish/start a chapter. 7 years ago

I’ve read The Fountainhead twice and it is one of my favorite books of all time. Atlas Shrugged is good, but not as good. Well worth the read. 7 years ago

I first got ahold of the fountainhead when i was 15. there is a reference to it in the movie dirty dancing (jenifer grey, patrick whats his name) and from the reference i thought it would be about sex so i went to the library and checked it out. i read it completly for entertainment, was not even aware there was a political message. ( i was a little slow on the uptake as a kid) once i made it to college and ran into people discussing the ideas i went back and read it again, then read Atlas shrugged for good measure. I do agree with some of her philosophy but not all. my advice…read it for the plot they are just fun adventure books, don’t get all bogged down in the meaning. 8 years ago
