I visited there a couple years ago on a Euro backpacking trip. It was the greatest place I have ever been. Everyone was friendly and the place had a great vibe. There is even a Dutch word for good vibe which I forget. Anyway, one day I will live here, if even for just a short while.
How to live in Amsterdam
How I did it: I backpacked through Europe and spent about 8 days in Amsterdam. I fell in love with the city and its people almost immediately. It is certainly charming, but compared to other European cities it had few sights to offer. Think of Paris: the Louvre, the Tour Eiffel, the Champs- Élysées? What does Amsterdam have that compares?
Lessons & tips: Never. Ever. Ever pay anything without having first seen the apartment with your own eyes.
Resources: I posted ads to Craigslist and used various other room-finding websites, but in the end the only one that gave me any leads was http://www.clickflatshare.co.uk/Amsterdam/. It is very anti-scammer, so everything on the page is trustworthy.

This is a tricky one. I’ve just moved to A’dam, have an apartment and am looking for work. So I am here and doing the things that life requires and will be for a foew years. So does that make this goal done? does it mean that I am living here already? I’m going to say yes to that. There’s nothing else for me to do other than just do what I do. N extra effort, no super planning. So this has been achieved in my books. Yeah!

I am packing up the apartment with just the bedroom and some odds and ends to go. I can smell the end, which makes this all the more frustrating and exciting.
We have an apartment, I collected my passport from the Visa services (did I mention that I’m going on holiday too), the ferry, the van and the storage are booked, we’ve found some help to move our stuff.
So just a few more days and I’m done with work and with London. Yippeeee!!!
Bring on Queen’s Day for the celebration.

Less than 2 weeks to go and still so much to do. The househunting’s been really difficult. We don’t quite know what we’re going to do or how it’s going to turn out. But we’ll find a way.

I’ve been cancelling all of my debit order in order to get ready to move. It’s just a few short weeks to go now. It’s been better than I thought it would be, but not anywhere near as easy as I’d like. 3 weeks amsterdam!

I’ve been really good today and have contacted about half of the agencies who’s details I’ve collected in the past 2 months by phone & then emailed my resume. While they don’t seem particularly excited I have made a start. I’m going to get to the balance of the contacts on the list and will ask around for more this this week. I’d also like to contact companies directly so I’ll give some thought to how I can do that and will start on that this week Friday or next week.

I have just re turned from Amsterdam this morning and it was wonderful. It’s not the most exciting place in the world, but it feels like it could be home. Now the job-hunt begins. Wish me luck!
