write a fabulous research paper

After 15 stressful weeks, my research paper is finished and it blew my professors mind :)
The Effects of the Black Death on the Medieval English Economy.

Phase one of fabulous paper-writing – getting a research question approved – is complete!

My TA started out today’s class by telling us that he only approved about 10% of the research questions handed in for consideration.
Then once we were all good and depressed he gave me mine.

I looked at it and saw that he had circled the big, all-caps DISAPPROVED on the front page because I had “insufficient research” and a part of me died because what the hell, I totally got like eleven books and bookmarked five articles and I read them all and HOW COULD I DO ALL THAT AND STILL SUCK SO HARD? But then I turned the page and…

What the…? “Christianity in Japan”? This isn’t my topic!

I got my real paper back and, heart pounding, scanned the front page…

I suddenly like my TA a lot more now :3

One thing bothers me, though: in the process of doing the assignment, I wrote “WHO IS HE LOL” in my annotated bibliography so that I would remember to come back to that part later. The obnoxious netspeak and all caps was meant to draw my attention – which is ironic because I completely forgot to take it out of my final draft!

I’m sure my TA saw it, but he didn’t comment on it. But oh my shit, part of me is going to shrivel up in shame every time I see him.

Totally engrossing. Also, it’s about a fifth of my uni personal statement. Definitely worth it.

But without a lab. Or indeed, anything but the internet and my own head. A true Gedankenexperiment.

No more than about 5 sides of A4 at the most, about 2000 words, not including references and cover sheet.
