I figure once I can get 10-20 “real” push ups, I can spend the money for one of those pull up bars. Maybe I need to do some ab work too, since I hear it takes core stregth.
It’s gonna be lots of work to reach this one.
How I did it: i was forced to do it for P.E. test. Upper body strength comes easily for me, but I cannot do a sit-up. I only can do a sit-up with someone holding my feet...

i was forced to do a pull-up to complete the physical fitness test… It was easy for me and i have upper body strength. but I can’t do a sit-up… i’m going to fail the sit-up test… sigh
I bought a pull-up bar and now I can do quite a few pull-ups. I try and do a set of 15 of them by doing 5 then 4 then 3 then 2 then 1. Anyways all, good luck on the goal.
I cannot do this
...but my dad used to be a personal trainer and in times when ive randomly decided that i needed to learn to do pullups he would tell me to practice jumping up into pullup position and slowly lower myself down…or standing on something so that you just get to the top of a pullup and lower yourself down….as much as you can…slowly you get better.
and i know it uses less of your arms than you think…its mostly abs and back.

They have one of those assist machines at my gym that counterbalances your weight so that you can work your way up to an unassisted pull-up. I’d like to be able to do that. I haven’t even tried it yet…today I’ll find out what my starting point is. I’m going to check in on this every week and hopefully, someday, I’ll be able to do one on my own.

I think I can do this, I just have to find a bar somewhere to try it out. If I can do push ups, I can do pull ups right? Maybe that should be my goal… find a place to do my pull up! :)
