The doctor said that I wash my hands too much. I learned from spending time with the elderly and my aunt, to wash hands upon entering a house so not to endanger those with compromised immune systems. Perhaps this habit is not the best to have after all in my everyday world.

So after a four year hiatus from having a check-up, mine was done today.

It is amazing, a few years ago neither my doctor nor I saw the need for physicals on an annual basis. When I would go, I never had concerns or questions, it was pretty perfunctory. Today, I came with a list of questions and updates =P

The practice where my doctor works is great. In addition to the exam they take the time to update your medical information, answer questions and review your lab work. He also addressed all of my questions and commented on any updates I had regarding my medical information. The upshot is I am basically healthy with a few minor issues.

And, I am now on the annual plan. My After Visit Summary print out reads “Follow Up Items: Return in about 1 year (8/6/13)” 9 months ago

I had blood work done today. The practice where my doctor works has labs drawn a week ahead of time so that the doctor can review them with you at your physical. 9 months ago

...since my last check-up. Like four years. Honestly, my doctor said I could go five years until my next exam. I’ve been really healthy and I stay pretty fit. But, it is starting to feel like that is too long. I;ve set an appointment for next month. 10 months ago
