I’ve started eating applesauce and Fiber One yogurt every day. Also trying to remember to eat my greens. Taking vitimins as well.
I’ve had three karate classes without a single crash in the past couple of weeks. :)
1. Eating at least one serving of fruit, every day.
This is tough for me, as I just don’t really enjoy fruits, but I have found that applesauce is not too hard to get down.
2. Adding more fiber to my diet
again, fruits… sometimes I have a plum, too. And I really like butter beans :)
3. Protien water and glucose tabs
I bring both of these to karate with me. I have some protien water between every activity, and keep the tabs around just in case I start to feel woozy.
4. Taking it easy
Easier said than done. I am the type of person who is always out to prove my worth, show how strong I am, do everything better than the guys in karate class… but I am learning to take the physical stuff down a notch, because I get burned out too quickly. It hurts my ego though! lol
Here’s a list I just found of what I should be eating (things I can’t eat crossed out):
Spinach ,Whole Barley, Grapefruit,
Turnip, Greens, Apples,
Lettuce, Buckwheat bread, Prunes,
Water Cress, Oat bran bread, Apricots, Dried
Zucchini, Oatmeal, Pears,
Asparagus, Oat bran cereal, Plums,
Artichokes, Museli, Strawberries,
Okra, Wild rice, Oranges,
Cabbage, Brown rice, Yams,
Celery, Multi-grain bread, Carrots,
Cucumbers, Pinto beans, Potatoes,
Dill Pickles, Yogurt, low fat Soybeans,
Radishes, Skim milk, Lentils,
Broccoli, Navy beans, Garbanzo beans,
Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, Kidney beans,
Eggplant, Soy milk,
Onions, Whole meal, spelt bread, Split peas,
Tomatoes
I just realized my diet is terrible. :(
I was told that a high fiber diet would help me. I had already been trying to fit in more fruits, which is tough, because I don’t really like fruits. I used to do high fiber bread, until I discovered that it had stuff in it that I’m allergic to.
Since I am not diabetic, I’d like to find the reason behind my frequent low blood sugar. From what I’ve read, if it’s reactive, it could be caused by hormones, or a hereditary fructose intolerance. Either one seems possible. I definitely have wacky hormones, and tend to be sensitive to anything that goes into my body.
found just half a small apple or quarter of a large one plus a small handfull of nuts will get me to the next meal. or another small amount of protein plus low sugar fresh fruit like blueberries… cherries seem like a good choice but must have a lot more sugar than they taste like cause I was crashing after those.
i just have no idea where to start; cutting out carbs and sugars from a vegetarian diet seems laughable. i just read somewhere online that even chickpeas are culpable?
know of any online resources with a comprehensive list of ok and not-ok foods?
don’t eat sugar and eat whole grains i don’t have any problem. eating fish and protein with every meal is important too.
i’ve decided to eat fish again.
i am going to do a macrobiotic whole foods diet. transition will be most difficult. i know i can do it cause i’ve done it before and i know its worth it because i felt really good then. its just very hard to get there. and i remember, i can’t eat sugar or refined carbs at all or it just starts the craving process all over again. its an addiction!
another difficult part is finding acceptable quick snacky foods since i need to be eating small amounts all through the day. i don’t have time nor want to be in the kitchen 24hours! i also hate thinking about food on a constant basis it makes me want to eat more and then i start to and gain weight. wild oats has a good variety and selection but they are so expensive.
i’m hoping just weaning myself off the sugars, and eating healthy again i’ll start to like those foods again and then it will be easier. but i have to cook differently for the rest of the family (if i don’t my husband will bring in giant boxes of hotpockets from sam’s club and all other assortments- he won’t change. he doesn’t complain about my cooking though thank heavens) but smelling what they are eating and actually cooking it etc. makes transition for me that much harder.
