paint my bedroom

after a snafu or five, I finally got going on the painting and while it took me all friggin’ day to paint it, my room is done. I was literally scraping the bottom of the bucket there getting the last drops and just managed to give the whole room one coat. From what I can tell since I decided I like the colour I won’t need to go over it with another coat.

I had purchased this light, cream colour but when applied to the gold/mustard/babypoop already on the wall it turned a sort of taupe colour. I’m happy with the end result and now I’m just waiting for the paint to dry so I can scrub it off the carpet (don’t ask).

I went in to the room after dark and that is where I see the biggest result as it is so much lighter in there now. Yay.

I need to pick a curtain color first and then paint the walls something that will compliment it.

-Either that or paint the ceiling….

It took a few days, but I got all the old crapy wallpaper removed. (Whoever invented wallpaper should be drug out into the street and shot) I plastered the cracks and dents and sanded last night. Today I need to do a final wipedown and then primer. Hopefully I can start to paint tomorrow!

at the moment it’s this feeble shade of pink. It’s really horrible, trust me. i’d quite like a Twin Peaks inspired motif somewhere when i re-paint…not the famous black and white zig-zag floor (a bit much i feel) but, and this sounds really geeky, the design on the toilet walls in the high school. a red line that zig zags up and down twice. although it could look a bit shite….

Finally tackled the obnoxious task of getting all the trim painted (thank you previous owners for painting it all a strange shade of beige). Now I just need to find the time and motivation to finish the last bit of ceiling and wall touchups, and I’ll be done! Perhaps I’ll be able to cross this off the list before 2009.

Not happening. Let’s change this goal back to “paint my bedroom”.

Made quite a bit of progress this weekend. The walls are essentially done (a few more spots to touch-up), and I got to about half of the ceiling. Perhaps next weekend I can finish the rest of the ceiling and tackle the trim and finally call this done.
