How I did it: I have lived in New York for 2 years now and will be here for one more year. I came to New York to attend law school and have both good and bad feelings about it. I do love the city because it is unlike any other big city in the US. It is rich with culture and history, but it can be a very lonely place, and often has the effect of making you feel disconnected to the community. And although I do not plan to remain h… Read how I did it…
How I did it: saved up 5k, fed exed my stuff and got on a place. i grew up in the area but moving to ny as an adult with no outside support is scary. its very expensive, its hard to get an apartment even if you can pay, and its an INTENSE place. scary scary scary. that fear soon transformed to opportunity and living my dreams as work just began to flow and community showed up. i would never call any place home ever again. How I did it: I went there with a brazilian airline TAM, got a job, worked as a waitress in a peruvian restaurant (my spanish was a plus for that) I got lost the first day, ate a lot of pizza, went to a lot of concerts, jumped a lot, went to the movies, saw great movies! made new friends, drank a lot of chocolate and mojitos, cursed a lot the snow (i realized I only like it in pictures), and felt free. How I did it: I dreamed it, kind of sort of planned it, and did it. My only advice: the only way to live in New York, to do New York ... the best way is to just do it! Don't think to consider the possibility of maybe moving here. Just freakin' get here! I live in Brooklyn, work in the city, and am busier than I've ever been in my ENTIRE life, and I ABSOLUTELY love it! Read how I did it…

I want to go to new York and live there. It seems like a brilliant place to live!
How long will it take before the real estate market bottoms out enough for someone like me to be able to afford New York City? I live and work in the shadow of the city, but I cannot get there. I need a bigger income.
I love New York! It’s not like other American cities, It’s laid back but at the same time, it never stops and really reminds me of some parts of London. I intend to move away to London first, but would like to move to New York to further my film career as I get older. I know it’s going to take me 10 or 15 years, minimum, but I can’t wait.
