How I did it: I moved to New York maybe 4-5 years ago upon receiving an internship that turned into a job offer. I found my Brooklyn apartment via Craigslist. When I was conducting my apartment search, it was a challenge finding each apartment because they were spread throughout the city and I was new to New York. I looked at apartments in Queens, Harlem, and Brooklyn. I went with the Brooklyn apartment (35 minutes away from lower Manhattan) because it was clean, the room was relatively large, and it fit my price range, $600.
