I have to do this. I have been to a lot of concerts.. but have just never goten the chance to see REM and this is like something I really want to do. Michael Stipe is a genius and surely one of the most fascinating guys ever. Such a great band. So much awesome music they have behind them and a whole history of just ground breaking stuff. They just dont come around much and that is upsetting.

Best free show I’ve ever been to. They closed down a section of the busiest street in the city, and REM gave a free concert to promote the release of Reveal. Awesome, awesome show. Would definitely want to do it again.
I saw REM in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where I used to live. A few months earlier my father died. Once they started playing ‘Everybody hurts’ Michael Stipe came to sit quite close to me in front of the stage and as soon as he had tears in his eyes I cried and cried. What a beautiful song and what a beautiful way of listening to it! They rule!!
1985 w/ 10000 Maniacs at Vanderbilt
1986 w/Pylon (I think – one of those classic Athens bands) at the Grand Ole Opry (seriously)
1989 w/Indigo Girls at the Mid South Col. in Memphis
1995 w/Radiohead – at Starwood Ampi. in Nashville
concert I’ve ever been to! Michael Stipe, besides being a fantastic singer, is such a great dancer and all-round entertainer. Really, really worth it – I can’t wait to go again!
REM’s out of time was actually the first cd I bought from my pocket money – would just be wicked to see them live after all these years!!
