Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

My husband really wants to fix the truck that my father gave to him a few years ago. I know that he is really close to having it completed. However, he needs to go to Melbourne to find a few more truck parts. 6 months ago

gremlins bloodFeb. 21 2014 Update

The air conditioning is working. I removed the AC control unit and discovered that one of the tubes disconnected. A couple of trips to the junk yard and some shrink tubing and the AC works fine.

One S pipe and the exhaust has good clearance above the back axle.

Still have not had the time to get the bed tilted or taken off to get to the gas tank and lines but I hope to get to it this summer.

I’m working on the interior for the time being. I’m cleaning the rust off the legs of the bench seat and will remove the seat later to do a full deep clean of the carpet. 10 months ago

gremlins bloodUpdate

The air conditioning is in . . . sort of. Although it look good there seems to be a problem with the air coming out of the front vents.

I replaced the exhaust system from the y-pipe to the exhaust tip but have the make a small adjustment to the exhaust pipe near the rear axle to raise it about six inches for better axle clearance.

I tried the tilt bed method to get to the fuel pump and line but could get it high enough for clear access even with jack extensions. I’m still working on ideas for this one. 21 months ago

gremlins bloodPossibilities...

I continue to work on the truck when I can but it’s slow going. I would still love to have the time and money to strip it down and build it back up from the frame. 23 months ago

gremlins bloodInsanely frustrating...

It took months took piece together the parts to replace the air conditioning system in my 93’ S10 only to find that I can’t get the final part. It isn’t manufactured any more. This is insanely frustrating and mentally tiring. 2 years ago

Fixed, registered, and insured. The biggest problem was bad plug wires, which I had bought but not installed.

I also got my car fixed. I am getting over my fear of getting my car worked on. I don’t want to work on cars anymore unless I have too or it is real easy. I no longer find it enjoyable. Life is too short. Do the things you like to do and pay for the things you find unpleasant. 3 years ago
