I want to open my own dance studio. I’ve trained for 15 years and am graduating from Wayne STate University with a B.S in Dance Educattion. My fiance and I want to live in Texas once i graduate. I’m just worried the competition there will be to great for my new studio to be successful. I’m also unaware of the steps that need to be done to actually make my dream to come a reality?? I NEED HELP/GUIDANCE. Any Suggestions

I remember that day. The dance studio was lit up like the dawn of a summer morning. It was just me answering to the command of the music. My world was there, at the balls of my feet as my mind followed my body’s lead. It was a sense of freedom and liberation that I had never experienced before. My cares and worries didn’t matter just then. All that mattered was the rhythm that entranced me like a child watching a magic trick, dying to know the secret…
When I was finishing high school, my sister and I ran a dance studio in the KC metro area that is now closed due to poor business practices. Twelve years later, I can’t get the goal out of my mind. I have the experience, although I’m out-of-touch with the recent trends. Right now, I’m a frustrated public school teacher who is half-way finished with my MBA. The only reason why I want an MBA is to learn best practices so that I can one day attain my goal of opening a business, preferably, a dance studio. After my experiences as a dancer myself, I have taken every opportunity possible to choreograph, whether for high school musicals or for dance videos for the fun and crazy English department at Desert Ridge High School where I used to teach.

ballerinadreams "someday my prince will come..." and by prince, i mean.. my dreams.
dance.
she’s my only dream. she’s my only hope.
she taught me passion, self-discipline, character, art, to embrace my body, to express myself, to adore music, to hear beyond the beat, see beyond the moves, attain the unattainable, split, jeté, grand battement, to perform, to fall in love with the stage, pointe, all that jazz, military time step, fierce flamenco, make-up, the barre, endurance, style, tap, tutus, groove, love, love… love.
and i desperately want.. no, need to make other people feel like this.

It’s such a struggle finding a permanent solution to the dance studio problem. I just want my own studio with my own name on it.
