walk on hot coals

i really, really want to do it!! i kind of want to do it with a proffessional nearby, but doing it while camping this summer would be amazing. i’ll look more into it online and see what it takes besides hot coals. IF it takes anything besides that, lol.

It’s absolutely amazing. I’d do it again in a heart beat.

The difficulty is in finding hot coals. Maybe I’ll manage it this summer when I go camping… I could build a bigass bonfire. But anyway… I’m just putting this here to remind me to keep my eyes open to the opportunity.

It’s easier than you think – something about the specific heat of materials, blah blah. Anyway, we did the research and it seemed doable, so we did it. We went to a friend’s place in the country and built a big bonfire, then let it die down until there was a path of coals between the flames. We did our best to hypnotize each other first, saying, “as long as I follow the man in front of me, I’m safe,” and “cool moss, cool moss!” And then we went – about three or four fast steps, a great rush of accomplishment and camaraderie, and a few blisters the next day. :)

To me, jumping out of an airplane is insane; psyching yourself up to walk across hot coals seems far easier in comparison. I just have to get to some kind of event that would have hot coal walking at it. Yes, I’ve heard of Burning Man, but I’m thinking somewhere closer to home.

I helped build the fire, then a group of us did a real fire walk a couple of years back, during an outdoor festival. :)
