M And life goes on
I built a bookshelf. $24.99 at biglots, it was seven pieces with four shelfs, not to bad, right? Wrong, lol, it’s VERY uneven but it holds up. So who am I to complain? But I’m going to avoid building stuff for the rest of my life.

I had to resurrect this goal from my “give up” pile because I finally did build something. In fact, I built two somethings! :)
Borrowing some tools from a friend of the family, I built a stand/table for a cutting board for use in the basement of my mother-in-law’s house:

I also built some shelving for storage in the basement as well:

The good thing is that from these photos, you can’t see the uneven edges, the cracked wood from using the wrong kinds of screws in some places, and all the other little mess ups. But, they both work like they should, ugly or not.
I have to admit that it was quite fun putting these two things together – without instructions, I might add – and once we buy our own house, I plan on trying my hand at more projects.
I’ve always been obsessed with building things, when i was a kid, I loved playing with legos, and k’nex, erector sets, lincoln logs, anything. As a teenager I started building computers, and fixing them for my friends and my school. Now I’m grown up, and I don’t really have anything to fill that void for creative construction, nor the finacial rescources to go to design, or engineering school or somthing like that. I’m just the clever guy at work that can fix stuff.
I finally got to build something. I built a two man loft bed for my dorm room, and a 3 man loft bed for another room. Lots of work, but it was worth it to see the finished product.
Naterade3 is beat.
I built shelves in my garage and my basement a while back, but I don’t really count those, I want to build something that sits out and is used in the course of everyday life…
erin is not being productive
i don’t really know what i meant when i put this on my list. i think i just haddn’t found another goal that fit what i wanted to say. i want to build everything instead.
I promised my wife many years ago that I would build her a shadow box to keep knick knacks on. I have yet to do. I might start with that.
