Well I got a metal detector last month which should be useful for this goal. I just haven’t really used it very much. I did find out there was a large meteor that hit about 3 miles from my house; called the Clinton Meteorite, the largest piece found was 15 lbs.

To hold something from somewhere else in the solar system / galaxy / universe would be VERY COOL.

In the past I’ve heard stories of people finding meteorites in their gutters and getting lots of money for them. Then sometime over the summer I saw a program on meteorite hunting and I thought that’s sometihng I’d like to do. Yes, you can get a lot of money if you find one, but I think just finiding one would be the really cool part. Like finiding treasure. And how amazing would it be to touch something that came from space!
I got a book from the library, back at the begining of November, on meteorites. It’s fairly short and has lots of pictures. It’s also due back in a few days, so I’m going to try and read it all tonight. I should be able to since it’s so short. I need some info on what to look for when looking for a meteorite.

You can find little meteorite fragments all around this place for miles around. Just bring a magnet, poke around in the dirt and look for really dark rocks that are heavy and magnetic.
