x1on is trying not to regret the past
i finally got up the gumption to have someone show me how to make gravy from scratch. it was so simple and easy. im so glad i know how to do it now.
now i want to make a stew. then lasagna!
How I did it: I grew up cooking with my dad alot. When I grew up I had to cook for myself. I think I'm pretty good and so does my husband and friends. I think I am still not as good as my dad and grandma are. I can't make a Pie crust, but can make a good filling for any pie. I tell all my friends that I am just not old enough to make pie crust yet but I will be able to someday! Read how I did it…

My now-deceased grandfather always made execellent scrambled eggs for us on Christmas morning. I made them for my mom and grandmother last week and it looks like I’ve been hired to make the Xmas eggs.

working on this goal day by day, help my mom in the kitchen and prepare breakfast daily and occasionally meals too though I feel I should increase my frequency
Sometimes, my mother makes really excellent lentil soup. She went away on vacation, so I thought I’d try it myself. It’s perfectly edible, but it just doesn’t taste right. Maybe she’s got a secret indgredient.
For some reason other people like my cooking, but I hate it. Maybe I should stop making things with molasses…
adelea found a purpose
right now all i can really make is french toast, pancakes, pasta. i need to expand my repertoire
I’ve been cooking regularly now, and I think I’m starting to build a pretty decent repertoire! I don’t know if I can ever officially say that I’ve conquered this goal, but that’s fine with me. I love cooking!

I had a successful dinner party this past weekend! Everytime I plan a bbq it rains. Fortunately I have a covered patio area and everyone had long sleeves. The food was a hit with a Latin theme. I grilled Cuban pork on the grill with a citrus, garlic, cilantro marinade. My sis-in-law made a delicious mango salsa to top the pork. I then made a Mexican inspired cole slaw- NO MAYO and then Cuban black beans. Everything was super easy and turned out very well. It was great. I’m adding this one to the recipe book.
I’m marking this done because I think overall I’m not a bad cook. But what I do want to do is utilize more specific goals when it comes to cooking—learn how to cook fish, learn how to can & freeze, etc.
