I’ve always wanted to find the time to volunteer. I think Habitat is an awesome charity and would love to offer my time to them.
How to volunteer for habitat for humanity
How I did it: Well, I've volunteered a couple of times in the past, and really enjoyed doing this, but it seems the local chapter has a new volunteer coordinator who does not know how to reply to emails, so I've decided to throw in the towel on this one, but since I have volunteered in the past I'm putting this onein the done category vs the give up. I mean, hey, I'm _trying_ to volunteer, I just can't seem to gtet any kind of of response, lol.

And then there was four ... electricity, magnetism, and love. The only 3 types of magic that exist
I’ve gone down to the local branch and helped out once or twice, but thats in the span of a couple years. With my new schedule I’d really like to start helping at least once or twice a week, even if it’s only for a few hours. I’ll keep you guys posted.
And how. We went on a ‘build’ to Westchester, but the first step involved demolishing an old house that stood on the property. A fun day of breaking down a house.
I have also gotten involved in a fundraiser at the Union Square Barnes and Noble, doing gift-wrapping.
Next spring, I will be going to Statesville, NC for an Alternative Break program with HFH-NYU.
This is not an urgent goal for me. I want to do it sometime, but I have no plans yet for when.
I would like to help other people achieve homeownership, as that is a dream of mine too.

I’m learning new things every day that might be useful for this goal down the road. I was up till 1:30 last night this morning “mudding” dry wall. And the first few hours it was actually kind of fun! :) After I get off work and get in a short run, I’ll be back at it; we have a lot of dry wall going up in that basement.

I learned a new skill that maybe someday I can use if they put up another Habitat house here locally – cutting and putting up insulation. It was actually kind of fun, and I’m so proud that I was able to do a decent job with getting holes for the electrical boxes in the right place, etc. – I’m not always the most spatially-oriented person. :) We are finishing our basement, so I’ll probably learn a lot of new construction skills before it’s all over.
But I got into a Publicolor event on the 25th of October. It involves painting and renovating public schools. Looking forward to it. But I will only consider this goal complete once I go on a build.
The NYU chapter of HFH is going on a build on the 5th of September. The build is on Atlantic Avenue in NYC. I sent the President of HFH-NYU an email to request my participation. Hope to hear from her soon.
ButtercupSam is inspired!
Found a local chapter in my neck of the woods. Hopefully, next week I can get this ball rolling.
I hope to be able to volunteer for my college’s HFH chapter this semester or the next, and hopefully can go on a build during fall/spring break.
