get acrylic nails

Oh my goodness, I still can’t believe I used to get fake nails! It’s funny how different I was and what my idea of beauty used to be :D I would NEVER ever have acrylics ever again. Not only are they a huge waste of money (and time), but they ruin your real nails! When I finally came to my senses and had them taken off years ago, my actual nails were all distorted. It took almost a year of growing out these horrid wavy ridges. Plus, I always hated the feel of the fake nails, and how I couldn’t do normal tasks like open a can of soda. And it also hurt like a bitch if the nail ever popped off! Plus, the truth of the matter is that people are judgmental, and I was labeled as being ‘high-maintenance’ or accused of having ‘porn-star’ nails, and I truly don’t fit in either of those categories! I prefer to be professional and conservative :D

Some said that I was crazy for getting acrylics when I naturally had long, healthy nails. But, it was for prom and I wanted everything to look perfect. It was my first time getting it done, and everyone there was very nice. It was a pleasant experience and they helped me find the exact shade to match my prom dress (I brought the shall with me). The result was great, and they stayed on for over four weeks. Yes, my nails looked terrible when the acrylics came off, but after a few weeks they returned to their natural long, healthy state. There’s no risk, no complications, just don’t forget to tip the technician!

I love them. I got them 2 weeks ago and going back next week for a fill. It costs $45 for a set and $25 for a fill. Make sure they use EMA acrylic not MMA acrylic. MMA damages your nails and can have very bad effects on your body. I love them.

When my friends went to get pedicures this week I decided to try gels. I don’t think I could ever do acrylics again. They feel and look so much better!

I’ve only done this three times: once for a college formal, once for homecoming and another time as a ‘girly pampering thing’. I think the reason I’m reluctant is that the acrylics I got were really thick/fake looking and my nails were trashed afterwards. I’ve found out since then that they didn’t do the greatest job and I know it can look better. i’m debating doing this again as a ‘splurge’.

Nice at first, then get annoying

I want to do this again after I give my nails a break. I had the nails on for nearly 9 weeks. I felt special the whole time I had them on. Just having them on encouraged me to dress nicer.

they are worth it. i love them. 15-20 bucks per two weeks.
