stop saying "like"

I’m going to try to stop saying “like” and “um” and “er” all the time and start speaking properly. I also want to start using some better vocabulary :D

this has been the hardest.

Your trying to like have a serious conversation and like people can’t like you know get their point across. Like you know what I’m saying? Like I Know it’s like so annoying and I want to like stop. So if you like hear me saying “like” a lot. please like wack me in the like head. Like thanks

I’ve acquired the habit, which makes me sound ridiculously uneducated. Though lately I’m more conscious of it, I still do it accidentally (but definitely not as often, only when I’m talking quickly or haven’t thought about what to say). While I’m at it, I’ll also try to tackle ‘you know’ and various other slang words exclusive to my school.

To ditching this habit!

It’s getting better, just thinking about it. It is slightly a social goal, but I know no one is assessing my language. But I am assessing other people’s language. Everyone uses umm and like because we hate silence. Americans especially abhor a conversational vacuum longer than 1.1 seconds, I’m sure. I value this goal because I think I will sound like a better and more articulate speaker. The downside is that I think my partner sounds like a moron. I do not like to think that.

I rarely say “like” whenever I’m writing or typing it, but I think I might say it all the time out loud.

It sounds ridiculous but I’ve had this habit forever. Stop using the word “like” incorrectly!

I say like so much DX I hate it! lol but it’s so hard to stop!

i hate sounding uneducated. between me saying like every two seconds and me cursing like a sailor i sound like an imbecile.

The more he began to crack when the neighbors rebuilt his house wrong….in the one episode… Diddly, didly aack – that’s me. Like, like oh and like….. bah!! Just stop it you fool!

My grammar needs improvement! Especially when I get mad or just, like, worked up, and I get all tongue tied. So it’s not just “like” that I have to work on, but also expressing myself more clearly and having a coherent sentence in my head before I say something, instead of just a bunch of blabber tied together withe”like”s and “you know?”s pouring out of my mouth.
....what’s a valley girl??

Edit: to everyone who asked, I think that having whatever you’re about to say planned out in your head before you say it would help stop the “like”s & all those other naughty words from slipping out :P
