sorbet87I'm so stuck!

I try so hard with this, and there’s no question I use this annoying ‘silence-filler’ much less than others around me or on TV…but it’s coming still coming out unconsciously a couple of times a day.
I’ve been trying with this goal for 8 months, can anyone help?! 4 months ago

sorbet87Finally, progress!

Finally I am making headway- the main barrier having been that I didn’t notice myself when I was saying ‘like’!

I’ve been practising talking aloud to myself and have several times corrected myself (I know, I must sound like a madwoman)

Just now I had a Skype chat with someone and I think I scarcely used the word! 7 months ago

sorbet87making progress

In England right now so I am really working on this. I am barely saying ‘like’ except for in the correct way- so I will mark this as done if I continue to not use the word for the next few weeks :)I think the key is to be more aware of what you’re doing! 10 months ago

sorbet87Foreign Language Difficulties

Well, at the moment I live in Spain and am barely using English, so it’s difficult to work on this!

But I am using English on Skype to talk to family, so that’s how I’ll practice. I think the important thing is to just pause or say ‘um’ when I need a moment to think, rather than like :) I’ve asked friends to be aware of when I’m doing it, and to point it out.
