Today's plan 1 month ago

Since I was too tired to get up 7:15 in the morning, I skipped the lecture of genetics. I got up 11 :P But now I feel that I am full of energy. So if I would have got up at 7, I would feel whole day really tired and got nothing done (like yesterday). I decided to go now to university and work on my thesis, go to lecture at 16 to 18, go to grocery store and clean my apartment if I still have energy.

Getting out of bed 3 months ago

Sometimes I wake up before my alarm clock goes off. In a situation like that I tend to go back to sleep and sleep until the alarm wakes me up. Often I don’t even feel tired at all when I wake up for the first time, but I just continue sleeping because I cannot think of anything else to do. However, the second wake-up is almost always a lot harder and I feel more tired, even though I might have slept for an additional hour or two.

Yesterday a friend of mine suddenly started talking about this very same thing (I’ve never talked about anything like this with him). He told me he had taken on a new habit and now gets up whenever he wakes up for the first time, and he said it has worked wonderfully.

So now I want to try it, too. From now on I shall get up as soon as I wake up in the morning, no matter what time is it. Of course this doesn’t apply to abnormal situations, such as waking up to a loud noise or waking up in the middle of the night, but if I have slept for 6 hours or longer and I wake up naturally, I will get out of the bed.

Be more efficient 6 months ago

I don’t want to be a robot. I want to enjoy my time, enjoy my experiences. Yet at the same time I don’t want to needlessly waste time either!

Make the best use 6 months ago

of the minutes in a day, and so much can be done! Prioritizing seems to be key, and I have started to make a schedule every morning, after I meditate. If I get all of the important things done in the first part of the day, and do them efficiently, it actually leaves me time afterward to do whatever I want. As simple as this may sound, I have never really understood this till now.

Ok 7 months ago

I really should stop browsing in the net right now and start doing something useful. I should read to my tomorrow’s exam, pack my bag for the trip, clean a bit this place, find literature for my master thesis, do dishes, go to grocery store, put the clean laundry to closet…

So many things that I should do. I just don’t know where to start :/

I’m so stressed out right now that it wouldn’t be big surprise that if I would flip out soon. I just need to put everything in order so this would look more clear and I might get feeling that I can handle this all.

I just hope that I would be able to relax a bit this weekend.

From good to great 8 months ago

Now that I procrastinate much less than before, the main bottleneck and source of waste is not time spent doing nothing, but time spent doing the wrong things. My writing, for instance, is often overlong and I can spend a lot of time endlessly tweaking my formulations. Sometimes I compulsively feel I have to do certain things for “completeness” that turn out to be useless later on. If I could get more efficient I could accomplish a lot more, and my life would be further improved.

Wasting time is not cute anymore 8 months ago

It perhaps served a purpose in my past (I used it as a distraction, to avoid doing what I didn’t want to do for some strange reason, which was often things like art or exercise or spending quality time with myself). Now this distraction is no longer cute. I have discovered a lot in this world and I don’t usually need to take extra time to “make sure to do them well,” I know how to do things well enough to get them done – so I should just do them, efficiently and move on to the next task. Time, it seems, goes by much faster these days and I have developed a desire to accomplish things within this lifetime (I have always had a desire to accomplish things, I just always thought I would do them “later,” yet this fantastical “later” never came and I got tired of waiting for it). And now I must undo 25 years of wasting time habits and overcome and accomplish and get things done. Efficiently. Finally.

Studying 9 months ago

There’s plenty of course material, which I have to read before the next exam week. Usually I get around to it a couple of weeks before the exams and then I’m already in a hurry. This time I’m going to try breaking the workload into pieces and starting now.

From now on I shall make sure that I read all the textbook chapters related to a given week’s lectures during the same week (either before the lectures or shortly after them).

I think I'll adopt this one 10 months ago

Since I have so much time between the courses, I should be more efficient and use that time wisely. And when I have little time to do something, I want to be as much efficient as I can when I am doing something.
